Traders are excited when pork sells for a good price. |
Ms. Nguyen Thanh, a meat trader at Thai Hoa market, said: Live pigs increased from 450,000 to 500,000 VND/kilo and pork prices ranged from 10,000 to 15,000 VND/kg. For example, rump meat, which normally costs 80,000 VND/kg, has now increased to 90,000 VND/kg; lean meat from 90,000 VND/kg to 100 - 110,000 VND/kg. In addition, beef prices increased from 15,000 VND to 20,000 VND, while rump meat increased from 250,000 VND/kg to 270,000 VND/kg...
According to Ms. Thanh, during the two days off, we could only get back from the slaughterhouses two-thirds of the amount of meat as before, because many places took it back to serve the holiday. The price of meat at the slaughterhouse increased, so the retail price also increased.
