Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc meets with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping

On the afternoon of September 13, at the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, China, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc conveyed the regards and best wishes of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang and other senior leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam to General Secretary and President Xi Jinping; congratulated the socio-economic development achievements that the Party, Government and people of China have attained since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China; and wished that the Chinese people, under the leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with Comrade Xi Jinping as General Secretary, will continue to achieve many great achievements, successfully building a modern socialist state that is prosperous, strong, democratic, civilized and harmonious.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc gave a general report on the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, emphasizing that Vietnam persists in its goals of enhancing the Party's leadership capacity, State management, rapid and sustainable development, and comprehensively and synchronously promoting the reform process; affirming that Vietnam attaches great importance to the friendly relationship with China, considering this a consistent policy, a strategic choice, and a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that Vietnam and China are two neighboring socialist countries, both in an important stage of the renovation and reform process; the two Parties and two countries have common interests in ensuring a peaceful, stable and cooperative environment for national construction and development. The continuous consolidation and promotion of the traditional friendship that President Ho Chi Minh, Chairman Mao Zedong and previous leaders of the two Parties and two countries have worked hard to cultivate, and promoting the stable, healthy and sustainable development of Vietnam-China relations is not only the responsibility of generations of leaders of the two Parties and two countries, but also a very important factor for the cause of national construction and development in each country, beneficial to peace, stability and development of the region and the world.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc outlined a number of major directions to further strengthen the relationship between the two Parties and two countries in the coming time, emphasizing that Vietnam attaches special importance to enhancing political trust, constantly consolidating and promoting the traditional friendship between the two countries; wishes to work with China to promote new progress in areas of substantive cooperation, bringing practical benefits to both sides; suggests that the two sides well control disagreements at sea, comply with agreements and common perceptions of the two countries' senior leaders, promote negotiation mechanisms to soon have substantive progress, well implement the DOC, strive to soon sign the COC, actively contribute to stabilizing the situation, for peace, cooperation and development.

Regarding economic and trade cooperation, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to expanding and improving the effectiveness of mutually beneficial cooperation with China, and welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in Vietnam in accordance with the development requirements of both sides; and requested that all levels and sectors of the two countries actively resolve difficulties and obstacles, bringing bilateral economic and trade cooperation into a stage of quality, effective and sustainable development.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc respectfully reiterated the invitation for General Secretary and President Xi Jinping to pay an official visit to Vietnam and attend the APEC Summit in 2017; affirmed that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Tran Dai Quang highly valued the invitation of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and will soon visit China.

General Secretary and President Xi Jinping warmly welcomed Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Party and Government to their official visit to China, emphasizing that Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc's official visit to China is of utmost importance in consolidating and enhancing the friendly neighborly relations and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping conveyed his regards to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang and other senior leaders of Vietnam; expressed his confidence and wished Vietnam to continue to achieve even greater achievements in the country's reform and development.

General Secretary and President Xi Jinping stressed that the Party, Government and people of China always attach importance to developing relations with Vietnam, and are willing to work with Vietnam to grasp the development trend of bilateral relations, maintain regular high-level visits and contacts, enhance substantive cooperation in all fields, promote people-to-people exchanges, control disagreements well, properly handle disputes, and promote the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to develop stably, sustainably and continuously in depth.

General Secretary and President Xi Jinping affirmed that China attaches importance to promoting mutually beneficial cooperation with Vietnam, and suggested that both sides promote the role of the China-Vietnam Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee in coordinating and promoting cooperation areas; strengthen the connection of development strategies within the framework of "one belt - one road" with "two corridors, one economic belt"; promote cooperation in production capacity and tourism; soon build cross-border economic cooperation zones and accelerate the implementation of key cooperation projects between the two countries. China will encourage enterprises with real capacity and high technology to invest and do business in Vietnam and will actively coordinate with Vietnam to resolve problems and obstacles in economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
