Continue to create breakthroughs and improve the quality of press publications

On the morning of February 6, Nghe An Newspaper organized the 2018 Conference of Civil Servants and Public Employees. Attending the conference were comrade Pham Thi Hong Toan - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Party Secretary, Editor-in-Chief of Nghe An Newspaper.

In 2017, the Party Committee of the Editorial Board continuously innovated its leadership, direction and management to improve the quality of the newspaper. It increased the assignment, decentralization and responsibility for the leaders of specialized departments.

The quality of the newspaper is always focused on improving, the team of reporters has made many efforts to innovate, ensuring that the propaganda content is updated "fast, correct, accurate, and interesting", truthfully reflecting many urgent issues raised from the grassroots.

Many topics are highly appreciated by public opinion, actively contributing to helping the province and localities overcome difficulties in management and handling of arising cases. Specialized departments closely follow their assigned tasks and areas of responsibility, and carry out well the work of publishing and promptly disseminating political, economic and social events taking place in the province.

Accordingly, specialized departments focus on promoting important events in the province such as: Coordinating the promotion of the Dinh Dau Spring Investment Promotion Conference 2017; visits and working sessions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, central ministries and branches in Nghe An, etc.

Focus on propagating Resolution 4 of the Central Committee (term XII), Directive 05 of the Politburo on studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle; strongly propagating the clearance of encroachment on Vinh urban sidewalks; topics on rescue and consumption of agricultural products, topics on health insurance, food safety, education, tourism, religious issues...

In particular, hot and urgent issues at the grassroots level were brought to the public, creating a good effect on readers such as: A series of articles on the incident of the dam breaking containing waste and mud of Suoi Bac Enterprise - Nghe Tinh Non-ferrous Metal Joint Stock Company; deforestation issues; the topic of dirty gasoline trading; illegal mineral exploitation, etc.

In 2017, the agency won 28 press awards of all kinds, including 1 B prize "Golden Hammer and Sickle"; 1 C prize national press award, and 5 provincial press awards.

The editorial office continued to receive hundreds of hotline information, processed and published the information in daily newspapers; the Legal Aid Office provided 34 consultation sessions for 80 citizens. Received 140 cases of complaints, denunciations, recommendations, and reflections. Processed by verifying, writing articles or transferring official dispatches, and keeping track.

The distribution work achieved good and stable results. By the end of the year, the number of newspaper circulation reached 16,350 copies/issue; the weekend newspaper reached 16,205 copies/issue. Compared to the same period in 2016, it increased by 300 copies. The online newspaper continued to attract a large number of readers.

In parallel with professional work, Nghe An Newspaper is interested in social security activities. The Newspaper supports 2 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers for life. In addition to helping the poor commune of Xieng My, Tuong Duong district, the agency's staff, reporters and businesses have supported and helped families in difficult circumstances and poor but excellent students with hundreds of millions of VND.

In 2017, Nghe An Newspaper had 4 collectives achieving the title of Excellent Task Completion; 5 advanced labor collectives; 64 individuals achieving the title of Advanced Labor, including 14 comrades achieving the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level; 1 collective and 6 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for performing tasks in 2016-2017; 1 individual was considered for the title of Emulation Fighter at the provincial level.

The conference agreed and signed a commitment to emulation work in 2018. Accordingly, it will continue to arrange and complete the publishing apparatus and process in accordance with the Convergence Editorial Office model; implement the Project to develop and innovate Nghe An newspaper on 4 publications: Daily newspaper, weekend newspaper, ethnic mountainous region page, Nghe An e-newspaper.

Focus on propagating and implementing well the Resolution of the Party Congresses at all levels, term 2015-2020; organize many topics, high-quality works with profound social effects, participate in provincial and central press awards, etc.

Along with that, we will promote the issuance work, striving to maintain and stabilize the issuance volume from 16,500 to 17,000/issue.

Concluding the conference, Editor-in-Chief Pham Thi Hong Toan assessed that 2017 was a year of many difficulties, but with the efforts and solidarity of the Party Committee, the Editorial Board and all staff and reporters of the agency, the newspaper has successfully completed its assigned political tasks and achieved many proud results. The results of 2017 are the premise and positive signal for many breakthroughs in 2018.

Editor-in-Chief Pham Thi Hong Toan noted that in the coming time, each staff member, reporter, and editor of the Newspaper needs to continue to innovate their thinking, improve themselves individually and collectively; raise their spirit, responsibility, and awareness even more for each product of the Newspaper to increasingly meet the needs of readers.

To do that, according to Editor-in-Chief Pham Thi Hong Toan, the quality of the staff, reporters, and employees is the decisive factor. Accordingly, in 2018, Nghe An Newspaper will focus on training on skills and professional expertise to improve professional capacity as well as leadership capacity for the staff, reporters, and editors of the Editorial Board towards professionalism, modernity, and efficiency.

Along with that, the Newspaper will strengthen administrative reform, tighten administrative discipline; be transparent and public in recruitment, personnel and finance; contribute to building Nghe An Newspaper increasingly strong, worthy of the title of Labor Hero in the renovation period.

On this occasion, Nghe An Newspaper also awarded outstanding collectives and individuals and organized the signing of emulation commitments in 2018 between specialized departments and offices.
