Body of man found drowned while shrimping on Lam River

At about 8:30 a.m. on February 19, rescuers found the body of Phan Van Thao (born in 1984), residing in Chi Phu village, Thanh Chi commune, Thanh Chuong district.drowningon Lam River.

Previously, at 11:30 p.m. on February 16, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Nghe An Provincial Police received information about a drowning incident in Thanh Chi commune, Thanh Chuong district.

Victim Phan Van Thao was unfortunately drowned while looking for shrimp in the Lam River area in Thanh Chi commune.

The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department directed a force of more than 15 officers, soldiers and specialized vehicles to the scene, coordinating with local authorities, police and people to carry out the search.

After more than 2 days of searching, at about 8:30 a.m. on February 19, rescuers found Mr. Thao's body in Xuan Tuong commune, about 6km from where he was injured.

Ms. Tran Thi Truc - Chairman of Thanh Chi Commune People's Committee, Thanh Chuong District added that before that, at around 3:00 p.m. on February 16 (the 5th day of Tet), Mr. Thao called and invited two men, Tran Dinh Tam and Tran Dinh Tinh, who live in the same hamlet, to go catch shrimp.

At about 7:30 p.m. the same day, all three people went to look for shrimp at a floating beach in Ngoc Son commune, Thanh Chuong district.

When crossing Lam River, Mr. Thao swam ahead. When he reached the beach and saw the high water, Mr. Thao swam back. When he reached the middle of the river, he was unfortunately swept away by the strong current./.
