Vinh City establishes and strives to protect green zones amid Covid-19 'epicenter'

Block 4,Truong Thi wardis one of the "green zones" in Vinh City when there were no Covid-19 infections. However, due to the complicated developments of the epidemic, people in the block have built barriers, stretched ropes in residential groups, hung signs "protecting green zones" and raised epidemic prevention and control measures to the highest level.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Dat - Secretary of Block 4 Party Cell, Truong Thi Ward said: In the past few days, the Community Covid Team has been hanging "protecting green zones" signs at the entrances and exits of the block. People entering and exiting the green zones are strictly controlled, goods can only be received at checkpoints. Since the establishment of the green zones, people's awareness in the block has also increased, more than 200 households in the area have strictly followed the "stay at home" rule to prevent the epidemic.

According to statistics, Truong Thi ward has deployed and established 102 green zones in 16 blocks. At the checkpoints, there are always enough forces on duty to proactively prevent the epidemic from entering the green zone, protect the health of people in the area, and prevent the risk of infection from outside.

In Quan Bau ward, the locality currently has 2 blocks with Covid-19 infections out of a total of 11 blocks. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Toan - Chairman of the People's CommitteeQuan Bau wardsaid: "Although there are still 9 blocks considered green zones, we regularly propagate to people to absolutely not be subjective or negligent. The ward's forces are also currently strengthening control of these areas and strictly handling cases of violations of regulations on epidemic prevention."

In Hong Son ward, one of the hottest spots for the Covid-19 epidemic in the city, the remaining green areas in the ward are being protected by the authorities and people.

Mr. Tu Trong Hai - Chairman of Hong Son Ward People's Committee said: Hong Son Ward currently has 6/7 blocks with Covid-19 infections, only Viet Duc block is considered a green zone and is being strictly protected by the ward. The current difficulty is that the ward's forces are currently lacking because some cadres, youth union members, and militiamen who have come into contact with the cases have had to be quarantined, therefore, the work of preventing and fighting the epidemic in the green zones currently depends heavily on the self-awareness of the people and the community Covid Team to prevent the epidemic from entering.

Previously, Vinh City People's Committee issued Plan No. 189/KH-UBND, which clearly directed the organization of forces to protect green zones (areas without Covid-19). Accordingly, the city assigned the People's Committees of wards and communes to assign a leader of the People's Committee to directly direct and organize, mobilize to the maximum the forces of the Police, civil defense, militia, youth union members, Veterans Association, Women's Union, Farmers' Association (if any); forces of agencies, organizations, units, enterprises, schools located in the area to protect green zones (areas without Covid-19 cases).

For green zone wards and communes, it is necessary to set up checkpoints, organize forces to coordinate with provincial and municipal forces to control and prevent epidemics around wards and communes to strictly manage citizens entering and leaving wards and communes to prevent the spread of epidemics in the area.

For wards and communes with Covid-19 cases, control posts must be set up around the blocks and hamlets in order to protect the green areas of those blocks and hamlets. In each block and hamlet with a green residential group, a control post must be set up to protect the green areas of the residential group.
