Nghe An Vocational College of Economics - Industry - Handicrafts: Contributing to building the brand of craft villages
(Baonghean) -In order to create human resources for the development of Industry - Small Industry (CN-TTCN) and the construction of craft villages, 15 years ago, Nghe An Small Industry Vocational Training School - the predecessor of the Vocational College of Economics - Industry - Handicraft was established under Decision No. 3144 dated September 10, 2001 of the Provincial People's Committee.
The school was established in the context of Nghe An having many important policies on developing industry and handicrafts such as Resolution No. 07 of the Provincial Party Committee on promoting vocational training development in the period 2001 - 2005, Resolution No. 06 of the Provincial Party Committee Executive Committee, term XV on building and developing craft villages. Thus, the school was established and carried an important mission, aiming to contribute to quickly bringing the province's resolutions into life.

With the function of training and fostering workers in small-scale handicrafts, fine arts, traditional occupations and introducing new occupations, training high-level workers, creating human resources for small and medium-sized enterprises, vocational training forces, and passing on vocational skills in rural areas and craft villages, the school encountered many difficulties in the first years, due to the specific nature of the training profession, few models to study; lack of facilities, teaching staff, programs, and textbooks...
However, with the attention of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, the support and coordination of all levels, sectors, localities, enterprises, especially the direct guidance of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Provincial Cooperative Union, the collective of cadres, teachers, students and pupils of the school have strived to overcome difficulties, excellently completed all assigned tasks, and built the school to constantly develop and mature.
Through many stages, from the time it was under the Nghe An Cooperative Union and now under the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, with many names in different periods, the school has always carried out its objectives well. From 2009 to now, the Provincial People's Committee has issued a decision to change the school's name from the Small Industry Vocational College to Nghe An Economic - Industrial - Handicraft Vocational College.
Accordingly, the functions and tasks continue to be supplemented. In addition to training traditional vocational training professions, the school promotes cooperation, research, grasps the needs of the labor market, and constantly expands the types and training professions. A prominent new feature in training is to promote training in technical occupations serving agriculture, rural areas and industrial zones, tourism, trade, expand training in economic occupations such as business accounting, bank accounting, corporate finance, credit finance... for the intermediate level and cooperate with prestigious colleges and universities to train college and university levels. With the addition of the function and task of consulting and introducing jobs to workers, it has created favorable conditions for the school in recruiting, linking training with production, training according to orders of enterprises, training workers to serve the needs of labor export.
The school's training method is vocational training associated with craft villages and production facilities, both restoring and developing traditional occupations and researching and introducing new occupations, teaching vocational skills, and working with businesses to provide job consultation, organize production, and purchase products for workers in rural areas, so that all graduates can find jobs.
From 2002 to present, the school has organized vocational training for nearly 22,000 workers with qualifications from elementary to intermediate and college level with occupations: rattan weaving, brocade weaving, fine art embroidery, fine art carpentry, civil carpentry, stone carving, silkworm engineering, agricultural and forestry processing, seafood, sewing, fashion design; mechanics, industrial electricity, electronics, information technology, foreign languages... 100% of graduates have stable jobs in businesses.
Importantly, the school provides 19,643 trained workers for 133 craft villages and more than 400 craft villages in the province, contributing to the brand of craft villages in the province. In addition, it provides 4,952 workers for enterprises, cooperatives, handicraft production establishments and other production establishments, with salaries ranging from 7 to 12 million VND/month.
Many workers trained by the school have become master craftsmen, core workers, and vocational teachers in craft villages and production facilities. Many students have become business owners, contributing to solving employment for workers, creating human resources to build 133 craft villages and more than 400 villages with crafts in the province, while also contributing to shifting the economic structure, increasing the value of goods production and income for workers, especially in purely agricultural areas, remote areas, stabilizing life, eliminating hunger, reducing poverty, building new rural areas, contributing to ensuring social security in the province.

To achieve that result, the school has invested in spacious facilities to serve training activities; focused on developing training programs and curricula, and training a team of qualified and sufficient teachers. The school currently has 61 staff, teachers, and workers, of which 11 have master's degrees and are studying for master's degrees, 32 have university degrees, 18 have college, intermediate, and high-level workers.
The school focuses on scientific research, with 31 solutions and initiatives approved by the Science Council of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs. Staff and teachers have successfully designed and manufactured 15 vocational training equipment models and won high prizes in self-made vocational training equipment competitions at all levels, including 2 third prizes at the provincial level and 1 second prize for the whole group, 4 second prizes (carpentry, electrical and mechanical equipment), 6 third prizes (sewing, carpentry, electricity, welding), 9 consolation prizes (sewing, electricity, carpentry, welding, silk reeling); 2 consolation prizes at the national level (electrical and carpentry equipment).
Persistently and persistently improving the quality of training, over the past 15 years, the school has had 12 teachers awarded the title of "Provincial-level Excellent Teacher"; many students won prizes at provincial and national levels at vocational skill competitions, of which the provincial level won 3 Second prizes, 5 Third prizes; the national level won 2 Third prizes and 7 Encouragement prizes (woodworking and fashion sewing)... The school was awarded many Certificates of Merit by the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, the General Department of Vocational Training, and the Provincial People's Committee. At the Provincial Vocational Teacher Competitions, the school always achieved high results.
With the results of the training organization process, construction of material and technical facilities, and conditions for teaching and learning, the school was assessed by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs for training quality and was granted a Certificate of meeting the standards of "Vocational training quality assessment level 3" - the highest level. In 2013, the school was selected by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to support investment in 3 national key occupations and was permitted by the Provincial People's Committee to establish an investment project and was approved for the national key occupation investment project (2016 - 2020 period), opening up opportunities for the school to gradually integrate with the region in the field of vocational training.
In recognition of its achievements, the school has been awarded the title of "Excellent Labor Collective" by the Provincial People's Committee for 10 consecutive years, 7 Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee and 4 Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, 1 Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister; 4 times awarded the Excellent Emulation Flag by the Provincial People's Committee; The school's Trade Union and Youth Union achieved excellent performance, were awarded Certificates of Merit and Certificates of Merit by the Labor Federation at all levels; The Youth Union was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Central Youth Union...
The Party organization has continuously achieved the title of Clean and Strong for many years. In particular, in 2016, the school was honored to receive the Second Class Labor Medal (2011-2015 period) from the President. These achievements will create the premise for the school's staff, lecturers and generations of students to continue to strive for higher achievements, contributing to the joint efforts to effectively solve the problem of job creation, hunger eradication, poverty reduction, and new rural construction in the province.
