Vinh - Hanoi railway line resumes operation from today, March 25

Information from the Transport StationVinh railwayThe Vinh - Hanoi train route will resume operation after a temporary break, starting from March 25.

Specifically, Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company has sent dispatch No. 310 to stations and localities regarding the operation of train routes NA1 - NA2 and SP3 - SP4.

Accordingly, the unit will re-run the NA1 train route departing fromHanoi to Vinhon Fridays and NA2 departs from Vinh to Hanoi every Sunday until further notice, starting from March 25.

In addition, on the occasion of the upcoming Hung King's death anniversary on March 10, train routes NA1 and NA2 will also operate to serve people traveling during the holiday on April 9 and April 11, respectively.

The resumption of the NA1-NA2 train line after a month is a good sign for the transport industry as well as passengers who regularly travel between the two cities. Previously, this train line had to temporarily stop operating since February 21 due to the impact of the epidemic as well as a sharp decline in the number of passengers.

Although it has resumed operations, passengers should note that this train line does not run all week long, but only runs on Fridays and Sundays as announced, and is still suspended the rest of the week.

Explaining this issue, Mr. Cao Ngoc Tuan - Head of the Transport StationVinh railwaysaid: "The resumption of this train pair is inevitable to serve the travel needs of the people, however, in reality, the number of passengers at this time is still limited, therefore, the train only operates on weekends - the time when there are the most passengers to maintain operating costs. After this resumption, depending on the actual situation, the unit will decide whether to completely reopen this train route or not...".

Currently, Vinh station is focusing on tightening epidemic prevention work to be ready to welcome passengers back on the NA1 - NA2 train route on March 25.

Train route NA1 departs from Hanoi at 22:15 to Vinh at 5:30 and train NA2 departs from Vinh at 21:40 to Hanoi at 05:00. It is one of the most familiar train pairs and has had the most stable number of passengers over the years, and is the first choice of Nghe An people whenever they have to go to the capital for work. According to Vinh Railway Station statistics, before the Covid-19 epidemic, this train route welcomed about 1,000 passengers per day, however, since after Tet until now, the train route has decreased by 80% of passengers due to the impact of the epidemic, culminating in the temporary suspension of operations on February 21.
