Vietnam records 35th case of nCoV infection

A 29-year-old Vietnamese woman in Da Nang, after direct contact with a British tourist, was infected with nCoV, the Ministry of Health announced.

"Patient 35" is a saleswoman at Dien May Xanh Supermarket in Hai Chau District, Da Nang. Around 6-7 pm on March 4, 2020, she had direct contact with two British people at Dien May Xanh Supermarket (these people were later identified as Patient 22 and Patient 23).

Early this morning, the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang received a test sample sent by the Da Nang Center for Disease Control. The test result showed positive for nCoV. The patient is currently being treated in isolation at Da Nang Hospital.

As of March 11, Vietnam recorded 35 cases of nCoV infection, of which 16 cases have recovered, and 19 new cases in the past six days.Among the new patients are 11 foreign tourists who arrived on flight VN54 that landed in Hanoi, then they spread to many provinces and cities such as Lao Cai, Quang Ninh, Thua Thien - Hue, Quang Nam, and Da Nang.

"Patient 35" is the first suspected case of domestic transmission from tourists.

Recently, there were two domestic infections, including the aunt and driver of "patient 17" - who returned to Vietnam on flight VN54 on March 2.
