(Baonghean.vn) - Although it is the largest lemon growing area in the district, for many years, lemon products in Bai Oi village, Chi Khe commune have always faced the situation of "good harvest, low price". Currently, along with the degeneration of crops, people have cut down 50% of the lemon area, converted to other crops and invested in livestock.

About 5 years ago, lemon trees brought high income to many households in Bai Oi village, Chi Khe commune. Many households planted 3-5 hectares, yielding 6-8 tons/ha, with an average income of 30-50 million VND/crop. During its "golden age", Bai Oi village had more than 100 hectares of lemon trees. Lemons have degenerated, combined with unstable prices, so many households do not want to harvest them, leaving them to ripen and fall. "The price of the 2023 lemon crop is low, only about 7-8 thousand VND/kg. The price of off-season lemons is quite high, 30-35 thousand VND/kg, but the area has been abandoned so there are few lemons to sell" - Mr. Le Van Tam, Head of Bai Oi village said.
