Continuous heavy rain for 2 days (October 28-29) damaged many hectares of vegetables of people in coastal communes.Quynh Luu districtand coastal communes of Dien Chau district (Nghe An) were flooded and damaged.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tinh in village 7, Quynh Luong commune (Quynh Luu) shared: "My family has 1 sao of green onions that were completely blown down this morning, so despite the heavy rain, we still have to harvest and salvage whatever we can."

The coastal area of ​​Quynh Luu district has 700 hectares of vegetable production. Before the storm No. 9, there were about 400 hectares of vegetables being planted and cared for in the fields. Affected by the circulation after storm No. 9 combined with the monsoon, causing heavy rain and strong winds, more than 70% of the growing vegetable area was flooded and could not be recovered.

In the vegetable fields of coastal communes of Dien Chau such as Dien Phong, Dien Hong, Dien Thanh... the rain has caused flooding.Ms. Bui Thi Trung in Hamlet 11, Dien Thanh Commune (Dien Chau) said that her family has 1 sao of kohlrabi planted just 1 week ago. Heavy rain for many hours has caused the entire vegetable field to be destroyed.flooded, considered completely damaged. After the water recedes, the family will cultivate the land again.

Mr. Le The Hieu - Head of Department of Agriculture and Rural DevelopmentDien Chau districtsaid: This winter crop, the whole district has planted 1,200 hectares of various vegetables. Heavy rains lasting from last night until today (October 29) have caused about 400 hectares of vegetables to be flooded, of which many hectares will have to be replanted because of root rot and leaf damage. In addition, hundreds of hectares of corn (out of 2,000 hectares of winter corn in the area) have not been harvested and sold to businesses yet and have fallen down.

To restore production after the rain, Quynh Luu and Dien Chau districts directed localities to focus on irrigation and flood drainage; and select vegetable varieties favored by the market for production in the coming time.

There is not enough vegetables to supply the market, so the prices of vegetables at this time are all high; on average, each type of vegetable after harvest costs 10,000 VND/kg or more (3 times higher) than before. For example, lettuce is currently harvested and sold for 25,000 - 27,000 VND/kg, 3 times higher than normal days.
