Son Thanh Commune received the Second Class Labor Medal

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 7, Son Thanh commune (Yen Thanh district) held a ceremony to receive the Second Class Labor Medal and announce the Provincial People's Committee's Decision on building a model new rural commune.

Attending the ceremony were comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; the New Rural Development Coordination Board of Nghe An province, representatives of provincial departments and leaders of Yen Thanh district.

Over the past years, the Party Committee, government and people of Son Thanh commune have united, well performed the tasks of socio-economic development; built clean and strong Party committees, government, departments, branches and unions, maintained political security and social order and safety, and is one of the five communes selected by the People's Committee of Nghe An province as a pilot commune in implementing the national target program on new rural construction.

After 3 years of efforts, Son Thanh commune has completed 19/19 criteria. During the implementation process, the commune mobilized more than 233 billion VND to invest in building rural infrastructure, in which people contributed and donated land worth more than 200 billion VND.

The commune has many positive changes, the material and spiritual life of the people has been improved; security and order have been maintained. Currently, the average income per capita of the commune reaches 39 million VND/year; the poverty rate is only 2.51%, the total social income in 2015 is estimated at 300 billion VND.

On March 11, 2014, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 858 recognizing Son Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district as the first commune in the province to meet new rural standards in 2013.

With its efforts and achievements, the commune was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President and many other achievements were recognized by the Central and the province. Constantly striving and making efforts to move forward in the innovation process, Son Thanh continued to be awarded the Second Class Labor Medal by the President and was selected by the Provincial People's Committee as one of the three communes with the decision to build a model new-style rural commune in the period 2015 - 2020.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong acknowledged and praised the results that Son Thanh commune has achieved, especially in the movement to build new rural areas. He requested the Party Committee and the commune government to continue to consolidate the political system, pay attention to the development of agriculture - farmers and rural areas, identifying this as one of the key tasks of the 2015-2020 period. Continue to develop the achievements in the movement to build new rural areas, soon become a model new rural commune to serve as a guideline for localities in the province in the coming time./.
