Building school culture to improve the quality of education
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 17, Nghe An Education Trade Union coordinated with Vinh University Trade Union to organize a workshop on Building a cultural school environment to contribute to improving the quality of education in Nghe An province.
Also attending were comrades who are members of the Provincial Party Executive Committee: Nguyen Thi Kim Chi - Director of Nghe An Department of Education and Training, Dinh Xuan Khoa - Principal of Vinh University.
The workshop also had the participation of many officials, lecturers and teachers working at universities and schools in Nghe An province.
There is a decline in morale among students.
School culture is an environment for educating and training human personality, especially the young generation. If the school environment is degraded, the school cannot perform its function of transmitting knowledge, values, and cultural standards to the young generation.

However, there are many worrying issues surrounding school culture today. Recently, the number of cases of students fighting, students attacking teachers, parents beating teachers right in school; teachers being violent with students through words and actions; etc. have appeared more and more, causing shock in society in recent times.
The opening remarks of the conference brought up many worrying figures right in Nghe An. Specifically, through collecting opinions from nearly 300 teachers and more than 1,000 students at 22 schools in the area, it showed that: There is a decline in morality among high school students over time and grade level. As the grade level increases, the percentage of students with good conduct decreases, instead, the percentage of students with average and poor conduct increases. If at the junior high school level, the percentage of students with average conduct is 5% and poor conduct is 0.7%, then at the high school level, this percentage increases to an average of 5.9% and poor conduct is 3.9%.

Teachers’ awareness of school issues is also not adequate. Many teachers, when asked about school culture, appear confused and do not have a deep understanding of this issue, which affects the dissemination of school education to students in general schools in the province today.

With the above issues, at the workshop, nearly 50 opinions of delegates were raised around the issue of "Building a cultural school environment to contribute to improving the quality of education in Nghe An province".
Focusing on 8 main contents: Current status of school culture in schools today; Coordination between family - school and society in building school culture; Role of trade union organizations in building school culture; School culture - Viewed from the perspective of teachers; Preserving and promoting the tradition of respecting teachers in schools in the current context; Behavior between parties in schools today; Replicating good examples and shaping a good lifestyle in building school culture; School culture - Viewed from the role of management staff.

The workshop also affirmed: To build a school culture, it must start from the industry management and leadership levels. Management levels need to have policies, implementation plans, inspections, reminders, evaluations, etc.
On the part of the teaching staff, cultural education should be considered an important factor, thereby focusing on forming and developing cultural personality for students.
In addition, a school cultural environment must be created from the combination of family, school and society. Thereby, eliminating unhealthy cultural manifestations arising from within, contributing to building an increasingly perfect and pure school cultural environment.
Through the workshop, we aim to strengthen the building of behavioral culture in schools, create fundamental changes in the cultural behavior of managers, teachers, staff, students to develop capacity, perfect personality, and cultural lifestyle. At the same time, contribute to building a healthy, friendly school culture; improve the quality of education and training.
