Information from Cho Moi District Police, An Giang Province said that the unit is consolidating the case file to handle the violation against Le Vinh Lam (born in 2000, residing in Ward 7, Ca Mau City, Ca Mau Province) for the act of "Reporting fake and untrue information to competent agencies and organizations".
According to Cho Moi District Police, at around 12:30 on March 17, Le Vinh Lam went to Hoa Binh Commune Police, Cho Moi District, An Giang Province to report that he had just been beaten by two strange young men and fell onto the bank of De Lang Canal (in An Thuan Hamlet, Hoa Binh Commune, Cho Moi District) and then robbed of his motorbike with license plate 69B1-544.71, a mobile phone and 190,000 VND.
After receiving the report, Hoa Binh Commune Police coordinated with the Criminal Police and Cho Moi District Police to investigate, verify and collect evidence related to the case.
After examining the traces at the scene and Le Vinh Lam’s testimony, there were many doubts. Later, Cho Moi District Police determined that there were no signs of crime.
By professional measures, the police determined that Lam reported false information.
Through the struggle and exploitation of Lam at the police station, Lam admitted to reporting fake news.
The subject confessed that due to lack of money to spend and drug addiction, at around 7 p.m. on March 16, Lam borrowed a motorbike with license plate 69B1-544.71 from a friend in Ca Mau city, then took it and drove to find a place to sell it. Lam then met and got to know a man named Hieu who promised to help find a place to sell the motorbike for Lam.
At around 10:00 a.m. on March 17, Lam and Hieu drove a motorbike to the De Lang canal area (Hoa Binh commune, Cho Moi district) and handed the motorbike over to Hieu to go find a buyer.
About 10 minutes later, not seeing Hieu return, knowing he had been tricked, Lam thought of reporting a false report of his property being robbed to the police, with the purpose of getting the police to investigate and find Hieu to recover the car, while at the same time concealing Lam's violation.
Currently, Cho Moi District Police, in addition to consolidating the case file to handle suspect Le Vinh Lam for the act of "Reporting false and untrue information to competent agencies and organizations," the unit is coordinating with Ca Mau City Police, Ca Mau Province to continue verifying and investigating to clarify the act of "Abusing trust to appropriate property" of suspect Le Vinh Lam.
