(Baonghean.vn) - People in Na Xen village, Chau Hanh commune, Quy Chau district (Nghe An) are trying to chase away two elephants that are destroying rice fields and crops.

According to information from the Chau Hanh commune government, on the evening of September 9, while people were sleeping at the camp in the Pha Dam mountain area, they heard strange noises. When they woke up, they saw a pair of elephants eating rice and crops.

In the following days, people tried to chase the elephants away by beating drums, playing music, lighting fires... however, the elephants did not leave but continued to stay.

Local people believe that this is a mother and baby elephant pair that has been here for a long time but has only damaged crops and trees and has never attacked people.

However, to ensure the safety of the people and the elephants, the Chau Hanh commune authorities have directed and coordinated with the village management board and the people to continue to find ways to chase away the elephants using traditional methods, absolutely not using tools or weapons to attack, provoke or endanger the elephants.
