Immediately after receiving the test results, Nghi Duc commune authorities cordoned off and destroyed all 150 infected chickens according to regulations. At the same time, they also put up ropes to limit people from entering and leaving the area where the epidemic occurred.
It is known that Ms. Sen's flock of over 1,300 chickens had a fever and died suddenly in recent days. However, Ms. Sen did not report to the local authorities but arbitrarily destroyed them. When the number of dead chickens was too large, Ms. Sen reported to the veterinary agency to take samples for testing, the results were positive for H5N1.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Duc - Director of Vinh City Agricultural Service Center said: The cause of the outbreak is due to erratic weather, especially after the recent floods, which creates favorable conditions for pathogens to grow and develop. Meanwhile, the vaccination rate of livestock households is still low, which is the reason why the epidemic spreads quickly and is difficult to control. Notably, when detecting the disease, people do not report it to the authorities but arbitrarily handle it without ensuring safety, leading to the risk of a widespread outbreak.
Currently, the total poultry flock in Vinh City is estimated at over 100,000, while poultry trading activities are very active in markets and shopping centers. Therefore, authorities recommend that farmers focus on vaccination, cleaning barns to ensure hygiene, and immediately report to authorities when poultry show symptoms. For consumers, it is necessary to choose food with clear origin to ensure safety.
