Yen Thanh effectively develops cooperatives associated with value chains
In recent years, many new cooperative models in Yen Thanh district have operated effectively, producing and trading associated with developing product value chains with high economic efficiency.

Towards the "footprintless" field
Minh Thanh Agricultural and Construction Cooperative is a bright spot of the new-style cooperative, performing well in production and agricultural service activities towards the “footprint-free” field. In particular, in the mechanization stage, the unit has invested over 5 billion VND to purchase 8 plows, 12 transplanters and 2 harvesters, 1 pesticide spraying and fertilizer spreading plane worth 500 million VND, meeting the synchronous production for over 250 hectares of rice in the district.
Pesticide spraying aircraft is a modern technology that can spread fertilizer, sow seeds, and sow rice accurately and effectively over a wide range of operations. The cooperative has sent staff for training and learning, and now they can operate the aircraft themselves. In addition to serving the commune, the aircraft also effectively serves neighboring communes.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Hien - Director of Minh Thanh Agricultural and Construction Cooperative added: In recent years, the cooperative has implemented a chain of linkages, such as supplying fertilizers and seeds to ensure quality for people in the commune. Linking and consuming high-quality rice products and oranges that meet OCOP standards, helping local people feel secure in production.
Up to now, the cooperative has had over 700 members participating, achieving annual revenue of over 10-14 billion VND. The unit has invested in building a system of warehouses, workshops to store fertilizer materials, machinery, booths to introduce clean agricultural products to serve local people...

With its achievements, in 2024, Minh Thanh Agricultural and Construction Cooperative is one of 100 cooperatives nationwide to receive the "Cooperative Star 2024" award presented by the Cooperative Alliance to honor the self-reliance and efforts to overcome difficulties of the cooperative community, constantly striving for collective economic development.

Buildbuild hNew type of cooperative linked to value chain
According to the report of the Yen Thanh District Department of Agriculture, up to now, Yen Thanh District has 47 agricultural cooperatives, a decrease of 3 cooperatives compared to the same period last year due to dissolution and merger. Total revenue in the year reached over 130 billion VND, with 15,000 participating members.
Mr. Le Van Hong - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Yen Thanh district said: In addition to agricultural services, the production and business activities of cooperatives in Yen Thanh district have expanded and focused on developing many new and highly effective business activities such as animal feed services, environment, market management, clean water supply, etc. Many cooperatives have applied technology and mechanized production such as growing vegetables and melons in greenhouses.
However, most cooperatives have limited operating capital, outdated equipment, small production scale, have not built a linkage chain, and are weak in competitiveness. The ability of members to mobilize capital is very limited, it is difficult to borrow capital from banks, the qualifications of cooperative staff are still very limited, and they are not really dynamic in the current market mechanism.

Recognizing the importance of collective economy in socio-economic development, in the coming time, the district will focus all resources and direct support for the development of cooperatives. Every year, Yen Thanh district supports 5-6 billion VND to build new cooperative models, linking production activities according to value chains, applying science, technology, and digital transformation in production and business. Attracting agricultural enterprises to invest in joint ventures and linkages according to product chains, building brands for some local products with advantages.
Continue to review small-scale, ineffective cooperatives and boldly dissolve or merge them to expand their scale of operations and develop appropriate business strategies.

Encourage collective economic organizations and cooperatives to proactively and gradually implement digital transformation to meet market demands; along with that, focus on improving service and product quality to build a reputable brand in the market.
Strengthen training and fostering of knowledge and skills for cadres, employees and workers in cooperatives, especially cooperative managers. Remove barriers to improve the ability to mobilize and access resources for cooperatives, create conditions for cooperatives to borrow credit capital and access State support capital to invest in infrastructure and expand production scale.
