2 young men scammed people by selling sticky rice via Zalo

(Baonghean.vn)- On October 21, Yen Thanh District Police said they were detaining two subjects, Vo Nhat Phuong and Phan Tri Ai, both residing in My Loc Commune, Tam Binh District, Vinh Long Province, for fraud and property appropriation.

Previously, Mr. DVH residing in Cong Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district reported: On August 22, 2022, Mr. H. was scammed by a subject named "Thai", using the Zalo account name "Long An sticky rice" to appropriate property in the form of selling sticky rice for more than 291 million VND.

Immediately afterwards, Yen Thanh District Police urgently established a special case to investigate and clarify.

During the investigation, the Special Investigation Committee synchronously and effectively deployed professional measures; at the same time, sent a working group directly to Vinh Long province to coordinate the investigation.

After collecting all documents and evidence, on October 18, 2022, Yen Thanh District Police presided over and coordinated with Tam Binh District Police, Vinh Long Province to arrest 02 subjects Vo Nhat Phuong (born 1992) and Phan Tri Ai (born 1991), both residing in My Loc Commune, Tam Binh District, Vinh Long Province, for fraud and appropriation of property. The confiscated evidence was 01 mobile phone used to commit fraud and appropriation of property.

At 5:00 p.m. on October 19, 2022, the Yen Thanh District Police working group transferred the above two subjects to the Yen Thanh District Police headquarters to conduct an investigation in accordance with the provisions of law.

At the police station, the two suspects Phuong and Ai confessed to all their crimes.

Accordingly, after discussing and agreeing with Ai about the intention of fraud and property appropriation, Phuong used the phone number that Ai gave him (the phone number was not registered to the owner) to create Zalo "Gạo nếp Long An".

Phuong called Mr. H. using this phone number, claiming to be "Thai" in Long An and mentioned selling sticky rice to Mr. H.

After discussing and agreeing on the price and items with Mr. H., Phuong contacted the owner of a rice mill in Long An province to discuss the purchase and sale of rice. After agreeing on the transaction, the owner of the mill packed the goods and sent Phuong a picture of the rice being loaded onto the truck.

Phuong forwarded this image to Mr. H. Then, Mr. H. called the driver to confirm and asked to take a photo to check the goods.

After viewing the goods, Mr. H. transferred more than 291 million VND to a bank account under the name of Phan Tri Ai. As soon as Ai informed him that she had received the money, Phuong immediately threw away the phone with the SIM card used for the scam to erase all traces.

The two subjects divided the money they defrauded and appropriated to spend.

Currently, Yen Thanh District Police are detaining 02 subjects to continue investigating, clarifying and handling according to legal regulations.
