3 union members in Nghe An successfully mixed free disinfectant to prevent Covid-19

The pioneer in implementing the above idea is Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Hung Nghia Commune, Phan Thi Sao (born in 1994). Graduated from the Chemistry major of Vinh University, Phan Thi Sao returned to her locality to work in the Youth Union with many positive contributions.

When the Covid-19 epidemic broke out, there was a shortage of masks and hand sanitizers, Sao came up with the idea of ​​making this solution himself to support the local people. Sao and two young members of the commune, Tran Thi Huyen - a student who graduated with honors in Chemistry Pedagogy in 2019 and Phan Thi Thuong, currently a 3rd year student - Faculty of Chemistry, Vinh University, worked together to make the solution.

Applying the knowledge learned along with studying standard documents according to the formula published by the World Health Organization, you have successfully mixed antiseptic solution from the main ingredients including Ethanol, Hydrogen peroxide, distilled water and lemongrass and lemon essential oils.

After completion, the members coordinated with some masters who are studying Chemistry to test and evaluate. The results showed that the solution has high antiseptic properties, is safe for the health of users with the advantage of having a natural fragrance and does not dry out the hands.

According to calculations, the cost of mixing hand sanitizer solution of Hung Nghia Commune Union is about 25,000 VND/150 ml.

However, the biggest difficulty in bringing the product to people is finding bottles to store it in. Therefore, in parallel with mobilizing social resources to create funding, the group guides people to clean and sterilize their cosmetic bottles to use as containers for hand sanitizer, both saving costs and reducing plastic waste.

Currently, this disinfectant solution has been placed in some public places of Hung Nghia commune. After use, users have highly appreciated it and hope that the product will be spread to many people in the district.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Quynh - Head of the Propaganda Department of Nghe An Provincial Youth Union said: Hung Nghia Commune Youth Union is the first commune-level Youth Union unit in the province to successfully prepare antiseptic solution according to WHO criteria. All implementation costs were voluntarily donated by the Youth Union base, and after the product was completed, it was distributed free of charge to the people.
