30,000 12th grade students in Nghe An take mock high school graduation exam

At the Huynh Thuc Khang High School (Vinh City) exam site, about 640/702 12th grade students of the school took the exam. Some students asked permission not to take the exam because the time overlapped with the Hanoi National University of Education's Competency Assessment Exam.
This is the third time Huynh Thuc Khang High School students have participated in the 2023 high school graduation mock exam, so entering this exam, the students are quite comfortable, seeing this as an opportunity to gain experience for the official exam.

Student Ngo Nguyen Thuy Duong - class 12A3, Huynh Thuc Khang High School said: I registered for the A0 block exam and plan to apply to a medical university. In the previous two exams, my subject scores were above 8 but I am not really satisfied. I think I have to continue trying because I will use the results of the Graduation Exam to apply for university.
This exam is organized by the Department of Education and Training with a common exam and is the only paper-based test in the school year. The Department of Education and Training is the unit that creates the exam questions and transfers them to educational units to organize the exam themselves and send the results back for the Department of Education and Training to review. Students participating in the exam, in addition to the three compulsory subjects of Math, Literature and Foreign Language, will take the Social Science subject group or Natural Science subject group as registered for the graduation exam.

At Huynh Thuc Khang High School, this year there was a big change when the number of students registering for the Social Science subject group increased by 313 students and the Natural Science subject group increased by 389 students.
Ms. Le Hong Lam - Vice Principal of the school said: This change may be because currently many students of the school have met the conditions to be admitted directly to university by considering foreign language certificates, excellent student exam results, academic records or results of the competency assessment exam. Therefore, the high school graduation exam will no longer be too stressful and students will choose subjects that are easier to learn and get higher scores than the Social Science subject group. Right after this exam, from the beginning of next week, the school will also organize graduation exam review for students according to the number of students classified by block groups.

In the morning, students take the first exam, Literature, which lasts 120 minutes. This is also the only exam in essay format.
Although the exam results are only to assess students' abilities, in order for students to test and practice, the exam councils are all organized seriously, with students sitting in separate exam rooms based on their registration numbers. During the exam, invigilators are also required to work according to regulations to ensure safety and objectivity.

At the Que Phong High School exam site, on the morning of May 6, there were 517 candidates taking the exam. Of these, 486 students registered for the Social Science subject group and 31 students registered for the Natural Science subject group.
Although compared to many other schools, the number of Que Phong High School students registering for the university entrance exam is not much, the exam is still organized seriously and the school considers this an opportunity for students to test themselves and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning.

Ms. Tu Thi Van - Principal of the school said: This is an important exam that helps the school accurately assess the students' abilities and have a suitable exam review plan. Currently, we have reviewed the graduation exam for students every day and provided extra tutoring in the evening. The review plan will last until the end of June, ending about 1 week before the official exam to help students master the knowledge and enter the exam confidently, achieving the best results.

The 2023 high school graduation mock exam organized by the Department of Education and Training is scheduled to take place on May 6 and 7.
In addition to this exam, the Department's LMS system also has a question bank for students to take a mock exam from May 15 to the end of June. The LMS system was also opened once at the end of the first semester for students to test their abilities and self-test their abilities. Students can participate multiple times online. Currently, the Department's question bank has been built for 2 years with more than 10,000 questions, so the probability of duplicate questions among the exams that students take a mock exam is very low.
Previously, talking about this exam, Mr. Thai Van Thanh - Director of the Department of Education and Training, Chairman of the Survey Council said: This is an important exam to assess the current situation and orient the adjustment of students' learning activities. At the same time, it helps teachers of schools have the necessary information to improve the content, methods, and forms of organizing teaching that teachers are conducting, and have appropriate and effective adjustments to teaching activities.
In particular, through this exam, students can practice test-taking skills similar to the high school graduation exam, self-assess their own abilities to supplement necessary knowledge, choose appropriate subjects and exam groups, and orient their future careers.
