(Baonghean.vn) - Afraid of being discovered by the authorities, Ly Ba Cha (Que Phong) took the "white goods" he bought with the intention of selling for profit and hid them at his father-in-law's house.

On October 23, Nghe An Provincial People's Court brought defendant Ly Ba Cha (born 1996), residing in Nam Tot village, Tri Le commune, Que Phong district, to trial for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".

According to the case file: In early 2019, Cha met a man named Tua, a Laotian. Tua told Cha that he had drugs, so if anyone needed to buy them, he should ask Cha to introduce them. Ly Ba Cha and Tua exchanged phone numbers to contact each other to buy and sell drugs.

In early May 2019, while going to Tri Le market, Cha met a man named Quynh but did not know his specific background. Quynh asked to buy crystal meth, Cha said "Ask and answer later"Then Father took Quynh's phone number to contact. After that, Father called Tua and said that someone wanted to buy crystal meth and told Tua to bring the drugs to Vietnam.

Tua quoted the price of 110 million VND/kg. Father called Quynh to quote the price but Quynh did not answer the phone. At around 11:00 a.m. on July 11, 2019, Quynh called Father to order 1 kg of "white goods" and agreed on the price of 135 million VND and scheduled delivery on July 12, 2019.

When Tua brought the drugs, Father said: "No money yet, will pay after sale". Tua agreed and then delivered the drugs to Cha. Ly Ba Cha brought the package of drugs back to hide at his father-in-law's house, Mr. Xong No Ly (Minh Chau village, Tri Le commune) to avoid being discovered.

At around 10:00 a.m. on September 12, 2019, Quynh went to Mr. Ly's house to meet Cha to buy drugs. When Cha took out the package of drugs hidden under the table to give to Quynh, he was checked by the authorities, discovered and caught red-handed, Quynh escaped. Inspection at the scene seized a package of white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine.

Through examination, it was found that the white crystalline substance sample seized from Ly Ba Cha was a drug weighing 985.34 grams.

The panel of judges determined: Defendant Cha’s actions were extremely dangerous, causing serious impacts on society if the crime were to be committed successfully. Therefore, it is necessary to deal with the crime severely to serve as a deterrent to the community. Considering that the defendant confessed honestly, repented, and because he is an ethnic minority, his awareness is limited, the decision was made to sentence Ly Ba Cha to life in prison for the crime of “Illegal drug trafficking”.
