Burial of the remains of 57 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos
(Baonghean.vn) - The remains of 57 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos were found during the 2019-2020 dry season and buried at the Nghi Loc District Martyrs' Cemetery (Nghe An).
On the morning of May 10, at Nghi Loc District Martyrs' Cemetery, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province solemnly held a burial ceremony for the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who heroically fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, and for the noble international duty in the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Attending the ceremony were Major General Tran Quoc Dung - Director of the Policy Department, General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, Chief of Office of the National Steering Committee 515; Major General Nguyen Anh Tuan - Deputy Commander of Military Region IV.
On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee: Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Nguyen Ngoc Ha - Commander of the Provincial Military Command, Deputy Head of the Special Working Committee of Nghe An province; comrade Bui Dinh Long - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors; representatives of the Party Committee, government and people of Nghi Loc district.

With pure and loyal international sentiment and imbued with President Ho Chi Minh's teaching: "Helping friends is helping ourselves", during the years of resistance, tens of thousands of Vietnamese volunteers and experts went to Laos to fight together against the common enemy, towards the goal of liberating the country, gaining independence, freedom for the nation and happiness for the people.

During the war, many Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts sacrificed their lives in Laos, contributing to the victory of the revolutionary cause of the two brotherly countries. The war ended more than 40 years ago, Vietnam and Laos have been completely unified and independent, but there are still thousands of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts left behind in Laos.
Over the past 30 years, the Government's Special Task Force, the Ministry of National Defense, the IV Military Region Command and Nghe An province have closely coordinated with the provinces of Xieng Khouang, Vientiane and Xay Som Bun of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to search for and recover martyrs' remains.

The eulogy read by Comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee at the ceremony expressed the sincere gratitude for the martyrs' contributions. And affirmed that the martyrs of the volunteer army and Vietnamese experts who sacrificed in the Lao People's Democratic Republic were the outstanding sons of the Vietnamese nation, who did not spare their blood and bones, fought bravely and sacrificed for the noble international mission.
Through this, the Party Committee and People of Nghe An vow to promote the fine traditions of the homeland and country, forever remember the heroic fighting spirit and noble sacrifice of the heroic martyrs, strive to successfully achieve the goals of socio-economic development, national defense and security, bring the homeland to develop rapidly and sustainably, and soon become a prosperous province as Uncle Ho always wished.

At the same time, Nghe An province promises to always continue, preserve and foster the special and loyal friendship between the two Vietnamese and Lao peoples, between the two Parties and the two States to "Forever green, forever sustainable" as President Ho Chi Minh instructed.
