The press needs to reflect deeply, avoid one-sidedness

According to the general assessment of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department on press work and the comments of the Department of Information and Communications on the implementation of the Press Law in August 2019, press and radio agencies have promptly informed and reflected on activities in the fields of current affairs and politics. Many articles, programs, and reports on propaganda to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. Many activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the implementation of President Ho Chi Minh's Testament and his last letter to the Provincial Party Executive Committee have been strongly propagated.

Newspapers and radio stations have many articles and reports promoting Party building work; and information on the implementation of resolutions on apparatus reorganization and merger of district and commune-level administrative units. In the economic field, press agencies continue to have articles emphasizing the leadership and direction of the provincial leaders, steadfast in the growth target and the targets, directions, tasks and solutions set out.

At the same time, press agencies actively promote critical thinking, reflect on violations of a number of illegal construction projects, prolonged environmental pollution, etc., providing important information for functional sectors to investigate and handle.

Referring to the case of a father accusing his 6-year-old daughter of being sexually abused, which received special attention from the public and social networks, a representative of the Department of Information and Communications said that the press agencies of Nghe An province had reported moderately, cautiously, and not hastily. However, on Facebook, some journalists reported half-heartedly, causing many people to be confused and curious. The representative of the Department of Information and Communications suggested that journalists should be more careful in posting information on hot issues.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Pham Thi Hong Toan - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nghe An Newspaper said that the management of the Department of Information and Communications towards press agencies is increasingly close, not only in writing, through conferences, but also through regular daily communication via phone, text messages... helping the publications of press agencies to be more and more perfect. In addition, paying much attention to the education sector, Nghe An Newspaper affirmed that it will accompany the Department of Education and Training to coordinate in organizing communication activities, social activities...

Within the framework of the conference, representatives of the Department of Education and Training informed about the content of the implementation of tasks for the 2019 - 2020 school year. Many new and outstanding points will be prioritized and implemented by the Education sector in the coming time, such as: Strengthening State management of education, implementing the tasks of the Year of Administrative Reform, applying information technology in teaching, testing, student assessment, education management, school administration, encouraging electronic records; Ensuring strategic, scientific, integrated planning, promoting national identity and cultural people of Nghe An; Coordinating sectors and forces in education, helping students progress; Building and improving the quality of teachers and management staff to implement the new general education textbook program...

In response to concerns that, in the current context, foreign language training, especially English, is extremely necessary, but how to control the quality of foreign teachers in the province, especially in high schools, Director of the Department of Education and Training Thai Van Thanh provided further clarification. According to Mr. Thanh, currently foreign language teachers in Nghe An still have a problem of incorrect pronunciation, leading to incorrect teaching of students, so when communicating directly, students cannot hear what native speakers say.

That situation has made the industry propose a long-term strategy to improve the quality of teaching and learning Foreign Languages. Recently, it has signed a cooperation agreement with IIG Vietnam - a prestigious global testing organization to train and foster the two subjects of Information Technology and Foreign Languages, promoting them to become skills of global citizens.

Admitting that foreign teachers have not been strictly controlled for a long time, the Department's leader said that he has directed foreign language centers to count the number of teachers and at the same time coordinate with Vinh University to open pedagogical training classes for these subjects.

Concluding the conference, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department Nguyen Thi Thu Huong reminded the press agencies of the key contents that need to be focused on promoting in September 2019. She emphasized the need to focus on promoting opportunities, challenges, achievements, and limitations in implementing the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress, in conjunction with implementing Resolution 26, and at the same time promoting 50 years of implementing President Ho Chi Minh's Testament and his last letter to the Provincial Party Committee; promoting events and major holidays in the month such as the "Heroic Ben Thuy" art program, the 89th anniversary of Nghe Tinh Soviet Day, etc.

In response to the comments of reporters and journalists on the situation of domestic water supply, comrade Nguyen Thi Thu Huong affirmed that this is an essential and regular need of the people, especially in Vinh city and surrounding areas, where the population density is high. However, it is necessary to eliminate "conspiracy theories" in the supply of clean water, because businesses are aware that they cannot survive if they go against the needs of consumers. At the same time, this is also an issue that has been strongly directed by the provincial leaders, providing immediate solutions, considering long-term plans, ensuring publicity and transparency, for the benefit of the people.
