(Baonghean.vn) - On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2022), the Nghe An Newspaper delegation held activities to pay tribute to the noble sacrifices of heroic martyrs.

On July 19, a delegation of Nghe An Newspaper offered flowers and incense at Truong Bon National Historical Site, Do Luong District; Vietnam - Laos International Martyrs Cemetery, Anh Son District.

Comrade Ngo Duc Kien - Party Secretary, Editor-in-Chief of Nghe An Newspaper led the delegation. Accompanying were representatives of the People's Committees of Do Luong and Anh Son districts, and representatives of Ecopark Group.

At Truong Bon National Historical Site, the delegation of Nghe An Newspaper offered flowers and incense to commemorate and express deep gratitude for the noble sacrifices of the heroic martyrs on the "fire coordinates" during the years of resistance against the US.

This land is also the place where hundreds of thousands of young people have left their footprints of fighting and youth. Young men and women have brought their eighteen and twenty years of age to war; men and women have stepped into danger with the desire to bring peace and unity to the country.

During the resistance war against America, 1,240 outstanding people fell on the legendary road due to enemy bombs and bullets, typically the heroic sacrifice of 13 youth volunteers of Company 317 on October 31, 1968.

The war has long since ended, Truong Bon today has become a historical symbol of Vietnamese youth volunteers, a place where the souls of 1,240 heroic martyrs converge, a place that preserves the living values ​​of a generation of young people determined to sacrifice everything for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, writing a legend of Truong Bon in the 20th century.

In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation laid wreaths and offered incense at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs at the Vietnam - Laos International Martyrs Cemetery, Anh Son district.

Offering incense to the souls of martyrs who died for the cause of fighting for national independence and freedom, and for the noble international sentiment, the delegation pledged to make every effort to contribute to building the country and homeland to become increasingly prosperous; and to foster the close relationship of solidarity between the two countries of Vietnam and Laos.

The cemetery was built in 1976 on an area of ​​nearly 7 hectares and is the largest cemetery gathering the graves of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who fought and died in Laos. This is also the only cemetery in Vietnam named after two countries and two peoples, Vietnam and Laos.

Since its construction, the cemetery has received and cared for nearly 11,000 remains of martyrs from Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Hai Duong, Bac Giang... who died on the battlefield in Laos and were brought here to rest. The Vietnam - Laos International Martyrs Cemetery is a symbolic work of the loyal and steadfast solidarity of the two brotherly nations.

On this occasion, the delegation also visited and presented gifts to 30 households, who are beneficiaries of social policies, relatives of martyrs, and people with meritorious services to the revolution in Anh Son and Do Luong districts, each worth 2 million VND. These gifts were supported by Nghe An Newspaper from Ecopark Group.

The delegation also presented money to support the construction of a house of gratitude to the family of Mr. Le Quang Khuong, born in 1947, in Hamlet 1, Quang Son Commune, Do Luong. Mr. Khuong is a severely wounded soldier and was exposed to Agent Orange. His family's economic situation is particularly difficult, as both of his children were indirectly exposed to this toxic chemical. This is the amount of money that Nghe An Newspaper called for from the Vietnamese Stature Fund, under the TH Group.

Previously, on July 16 and 17, a delegation of Nghe An Newspaper offered flowers and incense at Truong Son Martyrs Cemetery, Quang Tri Citadel, and Mother Nguyen Thi Thu Monument to commemorate the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed for the cause of national reunification.

At the Truong Son Martyrs Cemetery in Quang Tri province, on behalf of the Party Committee, cadres, employees, and reporters of Nghe An Newspaper, the delegation respectfully offered fresh flower baskets, gifts, and incense to pay homage to the souls of more than 10,200 heroic martyrs who heroically sacrificed on the legendary Truong Son route, including 1,297 graves of martyrs from Nghe An who are resting here.

The delegation pledged before the souls of the martyrs to strive to compete, work and produce to build the hometown of beloved Uncle Ho to become increasingly rich, civilized, worthy of the heroic sacrifices of previous generations.

Before the heroic martyrs who sacrificed at Quang Tri Citadel, the delegation of Nghe An Newspaper offered flower baskets, incense sticks and expressed their infinite gratitude and deep appreciation for the great contributions of the heroic martyrs. During our people's resistance war against the US to save the country, Quang Tri Citadel has recorded in the history of the nation a shining golden milestone of revolutionary heroism through the heroic and steadfast fight to protect the Citadel and Quang Tri town during 81 historic days and nights, the fiery summer of 1972 by our army and people, contributing significantly to the victory at the Paris Conference, creating momentum for the general offensive and uprising of the entire nation in the spring of 1975, completely liberating the South, and unifying the country.

During the 81-day and night fierce battle, thousands of liberation soldiers across the country and the people of Quang Tri fought bravely, sacrificed, and remained forever on this land. Their blood was mixed into the soil so that the country could have an independent day, and the people could be free and happy.
