Storm No. 1 weakens into tropical depression, North and Central regions continue to rain
(Baonghean.vn) - According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, early this morning (January 4), after entering the western area of Truong Sa archipelago, storm No. 01 weakened into a tropical depression.
At 4:00 a.m. on January 4, the center of the tropical depression is located at about 11.7 degrees North latitude; 111.8 degrees East longitude, about 300km east of the mainland of Phu Yen-Ninh Thuan provinces. The strongest wind in the area near the center of the tropical depression is level 6-7 (40-60km/hour),level 9.
Forecast for the next 12 hours,The tropical depression moves west, then is likely to change direction to move west-southwest at 20km per hour and weaken into a low pressure area. At 4:00 p.m. on January 4, the center of the low pressure area was at about 11.3 degrees North latitude; 109.3 degrees East longitude, over the sea of Ninh Thuan-Ben Tre provinces. The strongest wind in the center of the low pressure area decreased to below level 6 (ie below 40km/hour).
In the West of the Central East Sea (including the Northwest of Truong Sa archipelago), there will be showers and thunderstorms; strong winds of level 6-7, gusting to level 9. Rough seas.Disaster risk level: level 3.
