Funny story in Chau Hanh...
(Baonghean.vn) - The story of donating land to open roads, lighting up rural roads... is no longer new to many areas of the province. However, in Chau Hanh commune of Quy Chau district, many interesting stories from practice regarding this work are still lively and warm with the local people.
A household volunteered to donate more than 2,000 square meters of land to build a cultural house.
Stopping at Minh Tien village - a village with over 98% of Thai ethnic people in Chau Hanh (Quy Chau), many people will be amazed by the majestic structure of the community cultural house here. With a functional area of over 300m2 built on a campus of nearly 4,000m2, the community cultural house of Minh Tien village is truly spacious and airy.

Along with a system of modern cultural institutions, this is an ideal place for community cultural activities of 157 households in the village.
It is worth mentioning that of the nearly 4,000m2 cultural house campus, 2,000m2 was donated by a household. That special household is the family of Ms. Quan Thi Diep (born in 1969).
Mr. Lo Xuan Van (born in 1977) - Head of Minh Tien village said that the land area of Ms. Quan Thi Diep's family is nearly 3,500 square meters, including residential land, sugarcane land and farm development.

In 2023, Minh Tien village has a policy to build a community cultural house. On the old land of less than 1,000m2, everyone is concerned because it is too small to organize cultural and artistic activities as well as meetings and events. At this time, the village's policy is to expand the cultural house area and mobilize neighboring households to donate land to complete the project.
Supporting the village’s policy, Ms. Diep volunteered to donate 2,000 square meters of her family’s sugarcane land to expand the cultural house. After donating the land, her family’s farming and production area was greatly reduced.
Many people were surprised and asked Ms. Diep: "Do you regret donating so much land?" She smiled and affirmed: "If it was a pity, I wouldn't donate. For the common good of the whole community, even if I had to donate more, my family would be willing."

Mrs. Diep's spirit has spread widely among the people. After the cultural house was built, all the villagers and their children living far away from home have donated an additional 76 million VND to continue completing the playground in front of the cultural house.
Previously, the villagers had contributed 229 million VND and supported 1,245 working days to build rural roads in the village. In addition, the villagers also voluntarily contributed 78 million VND to install lighting projects for rural roads.
“In the past, when it was dark and there was no electricity, dogs and chickens were still stolen in the village. Accidents and vehicle collisions were inevitable. However, since the entire road was renovated and the lighting system was installed, these situations have completely stopped, and people feel more secure at night,” said Ms. Lang Thi Loan, Secretary of the village Party Cell.

It is not by chance that the people here unanimously contribute their human and material resources to build their homeland like that. Because they always have a great motivation, coming from the team of village cadres here.
For example, Village Chief Lo Xuan Van donated more than 1,000 square meters of garden land to expand the village's cultural house and donated more than 70 square meters of residential land to build internal roads. Along with that, the Village Party Secretary and Party members are also pioneers, actively participating in large and small movements and campaigns of the locality. Thanks to that, the consensus from cadres to villagers has gradually grown, and Minh Tien village has risen to synchronously complete the criteria for building new rural areas by 2022.
Eliminate the mindset of waiting and relying on others.
In the story of mobilizing people to implement local socio-economic development goals, Chau Hanh Lang Commune Party Secretary Van Hong said that the story of Thai people's contributions to building cultural houses, expanding rural roads, building community works... is really very exciting in this land. Not only Minh Tien village but also pure Thai villages or villages with a large Thai population such as Ke Bang, Minh Chau... are also very prominent.
For example, in Ke Bang village, people here do not have the mindset of waiting for and relying on the support of the State. Instead, they rely on it to try to carry out public works on their own. In the past year, people here have contributed more than 65 million VND to build the project "Lighting up the countryside". At the same time, they donated thousands of square meters of land to build intra-village and intra-field traffic routes. In Minh Chau village, people contributed 68 million VND; Hanh Tien village contributed a total of 203 million VND, of which 117 million VND in cash and 86 million VND in working days to carry out community works...
Remember in 2021, when implementing the project of embankment to prevent riverbank erosion, the people of Chau Hanh commune donated a lot of agricultural land, garden land... to implement, Mr. Lang Trong Kham - Head of Ke Bang village said, the villagers donated a lot of land. Among them, there are outstanding individuals such as Mr. Lang Van Thai - a party member of Ke Bang village Party Cell who donated more than 3,000m2 of crop land to implement the project.
Along with Mr. Thai, many households are also willing to donate hundreds to thousands of square meters of their cultivated land. “The total area of land donated is very large for households and the locality. However, for the common good, all people agree to support the State's policy,” Mr. Lang Trong Kham shared.

Thanks to the spirit of initiative and enthusiasm for the common good, the people of Chau Hanh have gradually changed the face of their homeland. Along with that, the people are also quick in doing business. In 2023, the average income per capita reached more than 46.4 million/year, an increase of 7.66% compared to 2022.
Chau Hanh has a population of over 8,000 people, of which the Thai ethnic group accounts for over 95%. Rising from hardship, the people here have eliminated the mindset of waiting and relying on State policies, but instead carry within themselves an aspiration to escape poverty and become rich legitimately. Thanks to that, this land has increasingly changed to gradually put on the appearance of prosperity and well-being.
