Con Cuong: By 2025, strive to build and repair 546 houses for poor households
In recent times, all levels, sectors, the Fatherland Front, organizations and localities in Con Cuong district have mobilized all resources to build and repair houses for poor households with the spirit of "Leaving no one behind". Since then, hundreds of houses have been built, helping poor households have stable housing and gradually improve their lives.
Warm and affectionate
In early December 2024, the family of Mr. Vi Van Thuy (born in 1984) in Tong Tien village, Don Phuc commune (Con Cuong) is rushing to complete the house in time to welcome the new year 2025. Visiting his family just when the rough part of the house was completed.

With a radiant joy on his face, Mr. Thuy shared his wish to have a spacious house to shelter from the rain and sun: “For many years, my husband and I have worked hard but still do not have enough money to build a new house. Luckily, the family received 50 million VND from the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee from the “For the Poor” fund. That amount of money was the motivation for my husband and I to borrow more from my paternal and maternal families. The house with a total estimated cost of 150 million VND is now available. This year, my family will be able to celebrate Tet together, warmly in this house of love.”
In Tong Tien village, the joy of having a decent house is not only for Vi Van Thuy's family but also for many other disadvantaged families. Ms. Vi Thi Kim (born in 1962) has a particularly difficult situation, with a congenital disability. The life of Ms. Kim and her son has never dared to dream of a decent house to live in. However, that dream has come true for her and her son, when in November 2024, the new house was completed and handed over.

"The family is very happy. My husband now has a clean place to worship. My children and I no longer have to worry when floods come. Now we can work with peace of mind!"
Mrs. Vi Thi Kim, Tong Tien village, Don Phuc commune (Con Cuong)
The joy of having a new house also came to the couple Mr. Ngan Van Tuyen (born in 1960) and Mrs. Ngan Thi Loan (born in 1961) in Chom Muong village (Mau Duc commune). He is deaf, she is disabled. Understanding their situation, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee supported the family with 50 million VND from the Fund for the Poor, the couple decided to borrow more, and the house worth 100 million VND was completed and handed over in October 2024.
Having a new, spacious and solid house, I am very happy, because this has been my family's dream for a long time. Thank you to the Party Committee, the government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels, and the neighbors for caring and creating conditions to support my family materially and spiritually."
Mrs. Ngan Thi Loan - Chom Muong village (Mau Duc commune)
It is known that, along with funding from the Provincial Fatherland Front, departments, branches, organizations, etc. to help poor households in the district build houses, recently, the leaders of Con Cuong district have called on and mobilized many other businesses and units. Specifically, calling on and mobilizing Hanoi University of Construction, Ho Chi Minh Museum Construction Joint Stock Company and sponsors to build "Charity Houses" using unburnt brick technology for 2 poor households in Bach Son village, Cam Lam commune; Vietnam Oil and Gas Group supported 50 houses; Hanoi Charity Heart Club supported 50 houses; Ministry of Public Security supported 120 houses...

Need for synchronous and drastic participation
Mr. Vi Van Quy - Chairman of the District Fatherland Front Committee, Deputy Head of Steering Committee 2950 of Con Cuong District said: Program 1838 on mobilizing and supporting the construction and repair of houses for the poor and people with difficult housing circumstances in the province is a major policy of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, which has been seriously, methodically and scientifically implemented by the Steering Committee of Con Cuong District. There is the drastic participation of the entire political system from the district to the grassroots level and the consensus and support of agencies, units, enterprises, businessmen and philanthropists; the people are excited and trust the housing construction policies of all levels.
To implement, the District Steering Committee 2950 has been active and proactive in leading, directing, organizing, thoroughly grasping, and concretizing the task of mobilizing and supporting the construction of houses for the poor and people in difficult circumstances.

Based on the review of communes and towns, in 2023, the District Steering Committee 2950 approved 816 households in need of support for housing construction and repair in the period of 2023 - 2025, of which 538 households needed new construction and 278 households needed repair. In 2024, a supplementary survey was conducted to propose approval for 172 households to rebuild, bringing the total number of households needing new construction to 710 and households needing repair to 203.
To complete the renewal target andhome repair for poor households, in 2024, together with funding sources from sponsors such as the Department of Culture and Sports, Kim Lien Relic Site, District Agricultural Bank, BIDV Bank, Provincial Fund for the Poor, Hanoi Charitable Heart Club, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, Department of Transport, Department of Finance... Con Cuong district has built 238 gratitude houses. The number still to be built in 2025 is 343 newly built houses and 203 repaired houses.

In 2025, the district continues to call on organizations, agencies, units, philanthropists, businesses, children of Con Cuong district living across the country, and local people to participate in donating money and working days to support the construction of houses for the poor and people with housing difficulties in the district. Strive to complete the target of eliminating dilapidated and makeshift houses by the end of 2025.
However, Con Cuong district is a mountainous district with difficult transportation, low educational level, and underdeveloped economy. The subjects needing housing support are mainly located in remote areas, which affects the progress of the program. The poverty rate is still high, the number of households in need of housing is quite large. Mobilizing internal resources in the area to support house construction is still limited. Steering Committee 2950 of Con Cuong district proposed that the Steering Committee for Mobilizing and Supporting the Construction and Repair of Housing for the Poor and People with Housing Difficulties in Nghe An Province support additional funding and resources to build housing for the poor in Con Cuong district in 2025./.
