Many shortcomings

At the meeting with constituents, following the announcement of the results of the 9th session of the 14th National Assembly, term 2016-2021, by Representative Nguyen Van Chi - Member of the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly, 12 constituents spoke up, raising many issues to be addressed to the National Assembly, the Government, central ministries and agencies, the province, and the town.

Expressing concern over China's continuous aggressive activities in the South China Sea, voter Nguyen Trong Hue, Chairman of the Veterans Association of Cua Lo town, suggested that the National Assembly should allocate resources to strengthen national defense capabilities to effectively safeguard national sovereignty in general and territorial waters in particular.

Voter Nguyen Trong Hue also raised concerns about the current inadequacies in land resource management and utilization, citing a series of land grabbing cases that have been prosecuted in several localities across the country.

In Cua Lo town alone, hundreds of hectares of land have been allocated to businesses and individuals for decades without being used. Therefore, we propose that the National Assembly should assign the Government to conduct a comprehensive inspection of land-use projects to address and put an end to the situation of "stalled" projects.

Expressing strong agreement with many correct policies of the National Assembly and the Government in the past period, which have been widely supported by voters, especially the Law on Prevention of Harmful Effects of Beer and Alcohol and Government Decree No. 100, voter Che Dinh Son - Deputy Head of the People's Mobilization Committee of the City Party Committee - raised some social issues and requested the National Assembly and the Government to continue to intervene more effectively in the areas of protection rackets, debt collection services, and illegal lending that are appearing in many localities.

Many voters also raised concerns about the policies for part-time community workers; and the shortcomings in supporting eligible individuals under Government Resolution 42/2020. Some voters also suggested that the National Assembly should review and adjust the retirement age; and reduce the age for receiving elderly welfare benefits from 80 to 75.

However, these issues are causing much concern, and with their authority and responsibility, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation will convey the voters' concerns to the National Assembly to continue monitoring and improving performance at all levels in the future.

Regarding the disbursement of support under the Government's 62 billion VND package, delegate Nguyen Thanh Hien suggested that the authorities at all levels in Cua Lo town pay attention to ensuring that the correct benefits are provided to people with meritorious service, and that surveys should be conducted for other eligible individuals to ensure that the benefits are given to the right people.

On the other hand, the town also needs to focus on reviewing and continuing to propose the revocation of "stalled" projects; investing in some roads and resettlement areas for people in the area near the port…
