Protest on September 12, 1930 by farmers in Hung Nguyen district (Nghe An)
From the beginning of September 1930, the people of Nghe - Tinh entered a period of fierce and intense struggle.
Responding to the struggle movement that was booming throughout the province and protesting against the brutal terrorist policies of French imperialism and feudalism, on September 12, 1930, more than 8,000 farmers of Hung Nguyen district protested at the district capital with the slogan: Down with imperialism, down with feudalism, abolish taxes, reduce taxes, divide land...

Under the direction of Vinh - Ben Thuy Provincial Party Committee and Hung Nguyen District Party Committee, groups of people from villages and communes of Hung Nguyen District lined up in neat rows, from 3 to 5 Morning hours have been crowded to gather at Yen Xuan station.
Here, when all the groups had arrived, a female comrade stood up to give a speech and encourage them. The protesters shouted slogans in unison, the self-defense teams divided themselves into groups to cut the telephone wires and arrest the station master to cut off the imperialist communication lines, then protested and brought their demands to Hung Nguyen government office.
The protesters had just reached Thai Lao intersection when the French colonialists sent planes to bomb them twice, killing 217 people and injuring 125.

This massacre further fueled the hatred of the people in the province and the whole country. In response to the struggle of the Hung Nguyen farmers, many consecutive struggles broke out.
On the night of September 12, Nam Dan District Party Committee held a meeting with grassroots Party organizations and mass associations, mobilizing over 5,000 protesters to march to the district office to protest the brutal actions of the French colonialists.
The Central Party Committee and the Nghe An and Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committees all distributed leaflets and published newspapers exposing the crimes of the French colonialists and their henchmen, calling on the masses to rise up and fight against their massacre.
Rallies, demonstrations, and memorial services for the murdered compatriots in Hung Nguyen were held throughout the province, the largest of which were three memorial services organized by the Provincial Party Committees in Loc Da village (Hung Nguyen), Can Loc, and Cho Con (Thanh Chuong).
On the other hand, Party committees at all levels continued to mobilize the masses to fight against the French colonialists' brutal suppression of the Hung Nguyen demonstration. Workers at factories in Vinh-Ben Thuy continuously went on strike. Political prisoners in Vinh Prison went on hunger strike. Students in schools went on strike, Nghi Loc people went on strike. People in Dien Chau, Yen Thanh, Quynh Luu districts... protested and went to the district and government offices to present their demands and protest.

The demonstration of the people of Hung Nguyen demonstrated the great strength of the farmers, and at the same time was evidence denouncing the brutality of the French colonialists and their lackeys. Therefore, the Hung Nguyen demonstration encouraged and attracted hundreds of other struggles of the farmers of Nghe An in particular and the whole country in general.
