List of mountainous communes with students eligible for admission to ethnic boarding schools in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - Students admitted to the province's ethnic boarding school enjoy many priorities in terms of study and other priorities in living.
According to the Decision of the Provincial People's Committee, in the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2023-2024 school year, the Provincial Boarding Ethnic High School will enroll 7 classes with 245 students, and the Ethnic Boarding High School No. 2 will enroll 6 classes with 210 students. This year, students in mountainous districts can register for the entrance exam to 1 of the 2 schools according to their personal wishes.
Previously, according to the latest instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training in Circular 04/2023-BGDDT dated February 23, 2023 promulgating the Regulations on organization and operation of ethnic boarding schools, there are 3 admission subjects.

Firstly, the student is an ethnic minority whose parent or guardian has been a permanent resident for 36 consecutive months or more as of August 2023.
These are students in communes, wards and towns in region III and extremely disadvantaged villages in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, extremely disadvantaged communes in coastal and island areas according to regulations of competent authorities (hereinafter referred to as extremely disadvantaged communes and villages); Communes, wards and towns in region II and region I in ethnic minority and mountainous areas according to regulations of competent authorities.
The second group is ethnic minority students with very small populations as stipulated in Decree No. 57/2017/ND-CP dated May 9, 2017 of the Government regulating preferential admission policies and learning support for preschool children, pupils and students of ethnic minorities with very small populations.
The third subject is students of Kinh ethnicity whose father, mother, or guardian has been a permanent resident for 36 consecutive months or more as of August 2023 in particularly difficult communes and villages.

In comparison with these regulations, in Nghe An province, there are 133 communes in regions I, II, III that are eligible to enroll students in grade 10 of ethnic boarding schools. These are communes in the districts of Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Anh Son, Thanh Chuong, Tan Ky, Que Phong, Quy Chau, Quy Hop, Nghia Dan, Quynh Luu and Thai Hoa town. Among these, there are some communes that are only given priority for enrollment in extremely difficult areas.
According to the enrollment guidelines of the Department of Education and Training, depending on each subject, the enrollment quota will be allocated to the Provincial Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities and Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities No. 2 with a rate of 10 - 60%.

Candidates wishing to apply to a high school for ethnic minority boarding students must register and take the general entrance exam for grade 10 of high school. In particular, students from very few ethnic minorities, junior high school students who are subject to the provisions of Article 9 of the Regulations on Boarding High Schools for Ethnic Minorities and who have won national or higher prizes in culture; arts; physical education and sports; and science and technology competitions for high school students will be admitted directly to the boarding school for ethnic minorities.
