Thanh Chuong and Dien Chau districts are currently the localities with the highest incidence of African swine fever in the province.Nghe Anfrom the beginning of 2021 until now. The number of pigs dying from the epidemic has shown no signs of stopping, and is even increasing rapidly.

In Thanh Chuong district, as of April 27, 2021,African swine feveroccurred in 1,746 households, in 171 villages and hamlets of 36 communes, the number of pigs killed and destroyed was 371 tons, an increase of more than 200 tons compared to the beginning of April.

Mr. Le Dinh Thanh - Vice Chairman of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee said that the District People's Committee is directing localities to drastically implement epidemic prevention and control solutions, focusing on disinfection, sterilization, patrolling and controlling the transportation of pigs and dumping of dead pigs into the environment.

In Dien Chau district, as of April 27, the whole district had 22/37 communes with African swine fever: Dien Loc, Minh Chau, Dien Nguyen, Dien Thai, Dien Phu, Dien Tho, Dien Lam, Dien Dong, Dien Quang, Dien Thanh, Dien Tan, Dien Cat, Dien Phuc, Dien Loi, Dien Thinh, Dien Trung, Dien Xuan, Dien Hoa, Dien Hanh, Dien Ky, Dien Phong, Dien Doai. The total number of infected pigs that had to be destroyed was approximately 53 tons of live pigs.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Bon - Director of Dien Chau District Agricultural Service Center said that although the number of pigs destroyed every day is not much, almost every day he receives reports of pigs infected with the disease from the communes.

The reason for the strong outbreak of African swine fever in the two districts mentioned above is that households here mainly raise livestock on a small scale, making it difficult to apply disease prevention and biosecurity measures in livestock farming.

After Tet, people re-herded pigs but many households did not apply bio-safety measures. Disinfection and sterilization work has not received due attention.slaughter controlnot tightly controlled

When an epidemic occurs, it is not reported to local authorities or veterinary agencies for handling, causing difficulties in disease prevention and control. Water sources, feces, and waste released into the environment, through canals, ditches, ponds, and lakes are also the cause of spreading the epidemic.
