Bright spot of education in the Northwest of Nghe An

(Baonghean) - Exactly half a century ago, in order to meet the learning needs of young people in the Western Nghe An region, Nghia Dan High School (the predecessor of Thai Hoa High School today) was established. Although located in a mountainous area, throughout the 50 years of construction and development, Thai Hoa High School has always stood shoulder to shoulder with the top quality high schools in the province and achieved many high achievements in the career of educating people.

On the first day of opening, the school only had two 8th grade classes (now 10th grade) with over 100 students studying together with Thai Hoa Secondary School, but this was a great effort of the Education sector at that time, marking a new stage of development of education in Phu Quy land.

In the first 2 years, teachers and students of Nghia Dan High School taught and studied in the peaceful atmosphere of the socialist North at the foot of Kho Vang Mountain. From August 1964, the US Air Force expanded the war of destruction in the North. To ensure safety, the school had to move 7 times: from Hang Me, Tay Hieu Commune (September 1964), to Khe Can, Nghia Hoa Commune (March 1965), Ap Don - Bau Lang, Nghia Trung Commune (September 1965), De Ba Mountain - the border between Nghia Trung and Thai Hoa (December 1971), Bau Lang - Nghia Trung (May 1972), De Ba - Nghia Trung (September 1973)... But with the emulation movement "Good Teaching - Good Learning", the school has achieved many achievements, becoming the leading unit in the district, continuously recognized as an advanced school at the provincial level. Many students and teachers of the school "put down their pens and ink" to fight the enemy to save the country. The school's golden book of tradition still records: During the resistance war against America, the whole school had nearly 1,000 students join the army, many of whom heroically sacrificed. When the country was unified, joining the reconstruction, construction and innovation of the whole country, teachers and students of Thai Hoa High School constantly stimulated creativity in all fields, promoted individual strength to enhance collective strength, and built the school into a bright spot in the quality of education in the Western region of Nghe An.

Over the past fifty years, the school has had more than 350 cadres, teachers, and employees from many rural areas come to teach and work at the school. Fifty years, a long journey, with many difficulties and hardships, up to now, Thai Hoa High School has become one of the leading flags of the provincial education sector. The school has always received the attention and support of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An, the Town Party Committee, the People's Committee of Thai Hoa Town and the Parents' Association. Up to now, the school has built a team of high-quality staff and teachers: 14 people have achieved the title of excellent teachers at the provincial level, 22 are excellent teachers at the school level, 14 teachers are masters and are studying for a master's degree, striving to reach 30% of teachers with qualifications above the standard by 2015. In the past 2 years, 100% of teachers have been classified as good according to professional standards. The rate of excellent students has increased from 3.7% (school year 2008-2009) to 8.5% (school year 2011-2012); Every year, the rate of students passing the high school graduation exam is from 98% - 100%, the rate of students admitted to universities the following year is higher than the previous year, accounting for about 39% - 45% of the number of students registered for the exam, in the 2010 - 2011 school year, the school ranked 10th out of more than 90 high schools in the whole province, ranked 298/3,000 high schools in the whole country...
