Investigation of pine forest destruction in Hung Nguyen

(Baonghean.vn)- Recently, in the pine hill area of ​​Hung Yen Nam commune (Hung Nguyen), some areas of protective pine forest were cut down and removed from the scene by criminals.

According to the reporter's records, the area where the incident occurred is about 2 km from the commune center, located in hamlet 1, Hung Yen Nam commune. At the scene, there are still traces of dozens of pine trees that were cut down, some sections are still at the scene, the average tree trunk has a diameter of 20cm to 30cm. Around this area, there are many dry and burnt pine needles.

According to the report of Hung Nguyen Forest Protection Department, on May 20, 2020, Hung Nguyen District Forest Protection Department received information about the exploitation of pine wood in planted forests in Truong Hen area, Hung Yen Nam commune.

Hung Nguyen Forest Protection Department coordinated with Hung Yen Nam Commune People's Committee to inspect and verify the scene, the initial results determined that there was an act of logging pine trees in planted forests in lots 85, 75, 76 and 77, compartment 4, sub-area 1022 under the protection forest planning.

According to forest inventory documents, it is a 327 project forest owned by the State, managed by the People's Committee of Hung Yen Nam commune, and assigned to households for forest protection: Ms. Nguyen Thi Bay (1.17 ha), Mr. Phan Van Tich (3.05 ha) and Mr. Tran Van Tuong (0.48 ha), in hamlet 1 of Hung Yen Nam commune. The origin of the forest is a pine forest planted in 1998, burned in 2018, losing some area, the current state of trees is sparse and scattered due to fire, death and poor growth.

Through screening, measuring and statistics at the scene, there were 307 pine tree stumps exploited (including stumps of burnt trees and trees recovered after the fire but growing poorly) scattered in the above 4 lots, with an area of ​​4.7 hectares (Mrs. Bay 1.17 hectares; Mr. Tich 3.05 hectares and Mr. Tuong 0.48 hectares). At the scene, there were 77 pine logs (round wood), volume 1.221 m3.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hien - Deputy Head of Forestry Department of Hung Nguyen district said: "Currently, the subject of pine logging has not been identified, so the authorities are continuing to investigate to clarify."
