Couple arrested while buying and selling 39 kg of firecrackers

On the morning of May 13, the Investigation Police Agency of Nghi Loc District Police announced that the unit had just coordinated with the Customs Control Team, Nghe An Customs Department and Cua Lo Town Police to successfully crack down on a case of trading in prohibited firecrackers, arresting Nguyen Huu Duong (born in 1986), residing in Nghi Hai Ward; Nguyen Thi Van (born in 1970), residing in Nghi Hoa Ward, Cua Lo Town, along with evidence of 39 kg of firecrackers, 01 motorbike, 03 mobile phones and other related documents and evidence.

Since early April 2020, through the work of grasping the local situation, detectives of the Criminal - Economic - Drug Crime Investigation Team of Nghi Loc District Police discovered a ring of illegal goods trafficking, namely firecrackers, from other areas, brought into Nghi Loc for consumption in large quantities to store for sale during Tet for profit.

Faced with that situation, the leaders of Nghi Loc District Police established a special project to fight and mobilized detectives and investigators from the Criminal - Economic - Drug Crime Investigation Team to participate in the project and build up prominent subjects inside and outside the area.

At around 7:00 p.m. on May 12, on National Highway 46E in Hamlet 6, Nghi Xuan Commune, Nghi Loc District Police in coordination with the Customs Control Team, Nghe An Customs Department, and Cua Lo Town Police successfully broke up a case of trading in prohibited goods, namely firecrackers. Here, the authorities caught Nguyen Huu Duong and Nguyen Thi Van red-handed in the act of buying and selling 39 kg of foreign-made firecrackers.

Currently, Nghi Loc District Police are temporarily detaining the suspects to continue investigating and expanding the case./.
