Since 1927, comrade Dang Xuan Quy was taught to read and write and attended lectures and speeches by Tan Viet members. Thanks to that, the spirit of patriotism, hatred of the enemy, and the desire to devote his youth to his homeland were further strengthened in the young man's mind.

Lam Son Commune, Do Luong District, Nghe An Province is a land rich in cultural, patriotic and revolutionary traditions. Throughout the struggle to build and defend the country, Lam Son people have demonstrated that tradition through awareness and concrete actions, contributing human and material resources, contributing to embellishing the glorious golden history of the nation.

When the French colonialists invaded our country, Lam Son people actively participated in and supported the struggle of Nguyen Nguyen Thanh (Quan Huong) in Giang Son in the Can Vuong movement against the French. In particular, since the birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Lam Son people have been determined to unite and advance under the glorious red flag of the Party. Among the 47 veteran revolutionary cadres of Lam Son commune, comrade Dang Xuan Quy was one of the typical examples in the local revolutionary movement in the pre-uprising period.

Comrade Dang Xuan Quy (1910-1974).

Comrade Dang Xuan Quy (1910-1974) was from Nhan Trung village, Bach Ngoc commune, Do Luong canton, Anh Son district (now hamlet 1, Lam Son commune, Do Luong district), Nghe An province. His parents were Mr. Dang Xuan Loi and Mrs. Pham Thi Hue, who were honest and simple farmers. Born and raised in a mountainous commune, the weather, steep terrain, and exploitation by the puppet government made the lives of Lam Son people in general and of comrade Dang Xuan Quy's family in particular extremely miserable. However, with his intelligence and studiousness, comrade Dang Xuan Quy was soon allowed by his parents to study with Confucian scholars in the village.

At the end of 1927, the Phuc Viet organization was formed in Bach Ngoc and carried out activities to teach the national language and propagate patriotic literature and poetry to all classes of people. During this time, comrade Dang Xuan Quy learned to read and attended lectures and speeches by his comrades. Thanks to that, the spirit of patriotism, hatred of the enemy, and the desire to devote his youth to his homeland were further strengthened in the mind of the young Dang Xuan Quy.

After the provisional Executive Committee of Nghe An Party Committee was established (March 1930), at the end of March 1930, Anh Son Provincial Party Committee was also established. In April 1930, the Provincial Party Committee sent comrade Hoang Tran Tham (from Anh Son) to Bach Ngoc commune to build the movement and develop revolutionary forces. In June 1930, the Party cell in Bach Ngoc was established under the name Bach Truat cell, consisting of 5 party members with comrade Cao Tien Tue as Secretary.

On September 7, 1930, following the instructions of the superiors, the Bach Truat Party cell led the people of Bach Ngoc to organize activities to prepare for a large demonstration. Comrade Dang Xuan Quy was one of the members who actively participated in hanging the Party flag and distributing leaflets on this occasion.

On the morning of September 8, 1930, in the bustling atmosphere of the continuous beating of drums and gongs, comrade Dang Xuan Quy and the Bach Ngoc commune protest group under the leadership of the Party cell simultaneously marched to the gathering place. After stabilizing their ranks and listening to the speeches of the Party members, the Bach Ngoc commune protest group began to march together with the protest groups in the commune, heading towards the government office, shouting slogans of struggle as they walked.

At this time, the demonstration group of Thuan Trung and Bach Ha communes, when reaching Con Doi pass, despite being shot by the enemy, still bravely advanced. Facing the attack of the revolutionary masses, the enemy sent armed planes from Vinh to drop bombs on the demonstration group, killing 7 people. When the planes circled up, they saw that Bach Ngoc's group had also reached Hoi Quan bridge. To stop the demonstration group of Bach Ngoc commune, they immediately dropped bombs, damaging the bridge, killing 2 people and injuring 1 person. Faced with that situation, comrade Dang Xuan Quy and the people were ordered by the Party cell to temporarily retreat to preserve their forces.

The demonstration on September 8, 1930 marked a qualitative change in the revolutionary movement on a nationwide scale. Immediately afterwards, in Nhan Trung village, Bach Ngoc commune, mass organizations such as the Red Peasant Association, Red Relief, Red Self-Defense, and Women's Liberation were established and developed rapidly. Comrade Dang Xuan Quy was admitted to the Red Peasant Association.

As a member of the Farmers' Association, Comrade Dang Xuan Quy enthusiastically participated in propaganda work, raising the revolutionary consciousness of the masses. He was also an active member in mobilizing people to participate in the struggle between the landlords and the landlords, to fight against the illegal surcharges in the locality; mobilizing people to eliminate bad customs, participate in national language classes...

Not only in the campaign work, comrade Dang Xuan Quy also actively participated in demonstrations such as: the rich people's rice borrowing campaign to save the people from starvation at the end of 1930; the speech demonstration at Mr. Thinh's banyan tree in April 1931; the demonstration and hanging of the Party flag on May 14, 1931...

Faced with the people's fighting strength, to suppress the revolutionary movement in Anh Son in general, the French colonialists and puppet government organized many sweeps and arrests of cadres and party members throughout the prefecture. Bach Ngoc was a locality with a strong movement, the enemy set up many outposts in Tap Phuc, Qua Son temple, Phuc Hau communal house, Nhan Trung communal house. In just a short time, the party organizations in Bach Ngoc were broken up, many party members and the masses were imprisoned or beaten to death by the enemy during this time. Comrade Dang Xuan Quy and a number of remaining party members had to retreat into secret activities, waiting for a new revolutionary opportunity.

In mid-1936, the Bach Ngoc Party cell was restored with comrade Dang Sy Doi as Secretary. Comrade Dang Xuan Quy was honored to be admitted to the cell during this time. During the 1936-1939 Democratic movement, under the leadership of comrade Dang Xuan Quy and other party members, the people of Bach Ngoc carried out many propaganda activities to expose the crimes of the French colonialists and their puppet government. The comrades organized legal mass associations such as the Ai Huu Association, Hieu Association, Tro Association, etc. to help and support each other in life, while encouraging patriotism among the people.

On January 13, 1941, the uprising of the Cung Team at Rang station took place and was supported by comrade Dang Xuan Quy as well as all the people of Do Luong. Immediately after that, the French colonialists and their henchmen increased their repression policy, banned gatherings and hunted down Party cadres. Comrade Dang Xuan Quy was arrested by the enemy and imprisoned in Anh Son prison. Although the enemy used many torture and bribery methods, he did not confess anything. After a month of interrogation, they were forced to release him.

After being released from prison, comrade Dang Xuan Quy continued his revolutionary activities in the locality. Early in the morning of August 23, 1945, comrade Dang Xuan Quy and the people of Bach Ngoc gathered at Phuc Hau communal house. After reorganizing their ranks, the protesters, some holding flags, some holding banners, some carrying sticks, bravely divided into 3 groups and marched towards the government office. Before the strength of the masses, the district chief and the local officials bowed their heads and surrendered, bringing their seals to the Uprising Committee.

After seizing power in the prefecture, the Bach Ngoc protest group maintained their orderly ranks and returned to hold a rally to make speeches that frightened the local local leaders into surrendering. The Bach Ngoc Provisional Administrative Committee was established and introduced to the people. With his contributions to the local revolutionary movement, comrade Dang Xuan Quy was elected by the people as a member of the Provisional Committee.

After the August Revolution in 1945, comrade Dang Xuan Quy continued to participate in the resistance war against French colonialism and American imperialism to save the country and to do social work in his hometown. Especially during this time, comrade Dang Xuan Quy's family was also a base to hide Party cadres when they returned to work in the locality.

With his contributions to the cause of national liberation, comrade Dang Xuan Quy was recognized as a veteran revolutionary cadre. In 1998, his family was awarded the Certificate of Merit to the country by Prime Minister Phan Van Khai on behalf of the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Comrade Dang Xuan Quy's life is a shining example of his efforts, overcoming all difficulties and hardships to serve the cause of national liberation./.
