At the meeting, Con Cuong district reported on the current status of forestry production and forest product processing in the area. Currently, Con Cuong district has a total natural area of 173,831.2 ha; of which forest land and forestry land is 162,728.33 ha, planned with 3 types of forests including: special-use forest 74,361.91 ha; protection forest: 18,568.14 ha; production forest 62,034 ha. Currently, the land without forest is 15,083 ha.
Forest protection work is carried out seriously, there are no hot spots of deforestation and illegal exploitation of forest products. The current natural forest area is 47,632 hectares, of which 1,274.67 hectares are rich forests, 1,466.58 hectares are medium forests, and the rest are poor forests.

The area of planted forests in the district is 12,142.70 ha. Annual concentrated forest planting reaches from 1,400 ha to 1,800 ha, of which 500 ha to 600 ha are newly planted. The exploitation and processing of wood is mainly planted forest wood. Forestry products in the district are mainly imported raw for factories.
At the working session, comrade Truong Dinh Tuyen and his delegation discussed the following contents: Planting and developing forest areas in the area; current situation of supplying raw materials for forest product processing. Experts said that currently, Con Cuong forest coverage is nearly 85%, but the area is mainly natural forest, the land fund for forest production is small.

Experts have also analyzed and oriented development in the coming time. Accordingly, it is necessary to restructure the land fund appropriately, expand the area of planted forests, increase the land fund for production, improve the quality of forests, plant large trees and help people live from the forest. Comrade Truong Dinh Tuyen also advised Con Cuong district to develop medicinal plants under the canopy of Pu Mat forest.
At the working session, Con Cuong district also had a number of proposals and recommendations: The consulting team advised on policies to support the planting and exploitation of medicinal plants under the forest canopy in some areas of Pu Mat National Park; Attracting investment, building factories to meet the requirements of processing and producing essence, large enough scale for the raw material area in the Southwest region to stabilize and increase income for people.

The district also proposed that the Central and the province support funding; implement policies related to forest management, protection, forest development, and raw material area development.
