The election of leadership positions of the People's Council and People's Committee of Nghe An province for the new term is expected to take place on the morning of July 4.

The Chairman of the People's Council of Nghe An province, term XVII, decided to convene and organize the first session of the People's Council of the province, term XVIII, term 2021 - 2026, to listen to reports on the election of delegates to the People's Council of the province, term XVIII, term 2021 - 2026; conduct elections for positions under the authority of the People's Council of the province; consider and approve other resolutions according to regulations.

As scheduled, the meeting will take place on the morning of July 4 at Giao Te Hotel (No. 9, Ho Tung Mau Street, Vinh City). Delegates will listen to the Provincial Election Committee report on the election results of People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2021-2026 term in Nghe An province and report on the results of confirming the qualifications of Provincial People's Council deputies for the 2021-2026 term.

Delegates of the People's Council of Nghe An province will elect positions under the authority of the Provincial People's Council, including: Chairman of the People's Council, Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Council, term XVIII; Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee and members of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term; electing judges of the Provincial People's Court.

The meeting will also consider and pass a number of resolutions such as: Resolution on organizing the 2021 regular session of the 18th Nghe An Provincial People's Council, term 2021 - 2026;Listen to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province report summarizing the opinions and recommendations of local voters in the election of People's Council deputies.

The Standing Committee of the 17th Nghe An Provincial People's Council requested delegates attending the session to comply with measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic according to the regulations and instructions of the Central Government and the province. Depending on the development of the Covid-19 epidemic in the province, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Council may adjust the time and venue of the session.

At the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels held on May 23, 98.93% of voters in Nghe An province elected 83/83 deputies to the 18th Provincial People's Council for the 2021-2026 term. Evaluation shows that the structure and composition of the new Provincial People's Council deputies basically meet the requirements; the quality and professional qualifications of the deputies are higher than in previous terms.
