Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An province celebrates 10th anniversary of its founding

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 11, in Vinh city, the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An province took place.

Attending the ceremony were: Most Venerable Thich Thanh Dam - Deputy Dharma Master of the Associationco-witnesses of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS); Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu - Permanent Vice President of the VBS, Head of the Executive Committee of the VBS in Nghe An province; Most Venerable Taizi - President of the Japan Pure Land Association; Most Venerable Thich Bao Nghiem - Vice President, Head of the Central Propagation Committee; Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien - Vice President, General Secretary of the VBS; Most Venerable Thich Tho Lac - Head of the Central Cultural Committee, Deputy Permanent Head of the Executive Committee of the VBS in Nghe An province and other venerables, clergy, monks, nuns and Buddhists in the area.

Attending the event were: Vu Chien Thang - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Head of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs; Le Doan Hop - former member of the Party Central Committee, former Minister of Information and Communications; Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Ky - former member of the Party Central Committee, former General Director of the Voice of Vietnam, Chairman of the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Arts.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; representatives of leaders of departments, branches, sectors and units at the provincial level.

Accompany and develop with the homeland

September 23, 2011, with the approval of the CentralBuddhist Church(GHPG) Vietnam, monks, nuns, and Buddhists of Nghe An province organized the first Provincial Buddhist Congress, establishing the Provincial Executive Committee. At the first Congress (2011), the whole province had 15 monks, nuns, 45,000 Buddhists, and 11 pagodas. At that time, the activities of Nghe An Buddhism mainly served the religious and spiritual needs of the Monastery.

To date, the province has more than 100 monks and nuns, 65 pagodas and 168 thousand Buddhists gathered in 328 monasteries, communal associations and conventions. Monks and nuns and Buddhists unite to build a strong provincial Buddhist Sangha, successfully carry out assigned tasks, fulfill their civic duties, and effectively implement the motto "Dharma - Nation - Socialism".

Buddhist monks and followers always consider the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Nghe An province as the common home of all Buddhists, contributing to building a civilized and prosperous homeland. The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Nghe An has called for resources.socializeCarry out many restoration, renovation, and planning projects for new construction at pagodas and places of worship of Buddhist origin.

Regularly coordinate with the People's Committee,Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, the Provincial Religious Committee, the Provincial National Defense and Security Education Council, and the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee held a conference to disseminate policies and laws, launch movements to benefit the country and the people such as: Movement of monks, nuns, and Buddhists to protect national security; build cultural residential areas; build new rural areas and civilized urban areas; join hands to prevent and fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

Participate in disaster relief, contribute to the "For the Poor" Fund, the Education Promotion Fund, the Fund for Supporting Orphans and Disabled Children. Build more than 100 "Great Unity" houses, houses of love for families in especially difficult circumstances in and outside the province, support the construction of a number of solid kindergartens.

Promoting the achievements of the past 10 years, in the coming time, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Nghe An province will continue to strengthen solidarity among monks, nuns, Buddhists, and sects in the province. From there, the church will continuously grow and develop in the hearts of the people and integrate internationally.

Especially since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the provincial Buddhist Sangha and monks, nuns and Buddhists have actively supported the work of epidemic prevention and control, joining hands with the government to prevent and control the epidemic.

The Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee also expressed his hope that the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An province will play a role in promoting the tradition of "Protecting the nation and bringing peace to the people", contributing to consolidating, building and developing the great national unity bloc.
