(Baonghean.vn)- Before attending Mass, everyone must wash their hands thoroughly with soap or hand sanitizer; Mass attendees are required to wear masks.

The Vinh Diocese Bishop's Office has just issued a notice on Covid-19 infection prevention and control and some guidelines for religious activities to the dignitaries and parishioners of the entire Diocese. The notice was signed by Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long, Bishop of Vinh Diocese.

This is the second time the Vinh Diocese Bishop's Office has announced instructions on Covid-19 prevention in the entire Diocese.

Previously, since the beginning of the epidemic, the Office of the Bishop's Palace issued Notice No. 0220/TB-TGM dated February 6, 2020 on the prevention and control of acute respiratory infections caused by the Corona virus with contents according to the recommendations of health agencies and authorities at all levels such as postponing major ceremonies and mass activities until the epidemic is contained; parishes that have scheduled their turn to hold mass, please organize within the parish.

In this new announcement, in addition to recommending that members of the Diocese continue to be more aware of epidemic prevention, it also provides specific instructions for each ceremonial activity.

Accordingly, for the celebration of Mass, the Vinh Diocese Bishop's Office requires implementing epidemic prevention measures when celebrating and attending Mass. Specifically, right before attending Mass, each person must wash their hands thoroughly with soap or hand sanitizer; Mass attendees must wear masks. At the same time, the duration and process of gathering large crowds during Masses must be minimized.

All people over 60 years old, children who have not yet confessed or received their first communion, people who have just returned from working far away, people with respiratory symptoms such as cough, fever, difficulty breathing or are currently suffering from other serious illnesses are allowed to not attend all Masses, including Sundays, Solemnities and Holy Week days, and only need to stay at home to pray, recite the rosary or do good deeds instead.

In addition, the notice also recommends that parishes and chapels need to spray disinfectant inside and outside the church.

For activities such as Lenten retreats, the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the celebration of Masses at this time, the Diocesan Bishops' House recommends organizing them in small groups or by gender; in well-ventilated places and keeping them short; participants must wear masks and wash their hands with sanitizer as when attending Mass.

At the end of the announcement, the Vinh Diocese Bishop's Office called on all members of the Church to continue volunteering and doing beneficial activities for the community to join hands in repelling the epidemic.
