Leaders of Nghe An province visited and congratulated Vinh Diocese Bishop's Palace on Christmas 2024
On the afternoon of December 17, on the occasion of Christmas 2024, preparing to welcome the New Year 2025, a delegation of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province visited and congratulated the Vinh Diocese Bishopric and organizations and individuals in the Diocese.
Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee as Head of the delegation. Also participating in the delegation were comrades in the Provincial Party Standing Committee and leaders of departments, branches and sectors.
The delegation was received by Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long - Bishop of Vinh Diocese; Bishop Peter Nguyen Van Vien - Auxiliary Bishop of Vinh Diocese; along with priests, dignitaries, nuns, and heads of centers in Vinh Diocese.
Sharing the joy of welcoming Christmas, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung respectfully sends to Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long, Auxiliary Bishop Peter Nguyen Van Vien, priests, dignitaries, nuns and all Catholics in the province warm wishes of peace, happiness and fullness of God's grace.
Respectfully congratulating the good results and achievements of Vinh Diocese in 2024, the Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that the activities of Vinh Diocese in particular and the activities of Catholics in general are very favorable. Pope Francis has a message for the Catholic Church in Vietnam emphasizing the spirit that good Catholics must be good citizens.
Under the leadership of Bishop Nguyen Huu Long and Auxiliary Bishop Peter Nguyen Van Vien, Catholics in Nghe An have united and built close relationships within the Diocese and with the Party Committee, government, and people of the whole province to achieve the common goal for the development of the province.
The Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also expressed his joy that Catholics have built many effective economic models, actively participated in building new rural areas, eliminating hunger and reducing poverty, patriotic emulation movements, and protecting security and order. Outstanding movements include "Peaceful parishes and parishes, no crime", "Peaceful parishes and parishes", "Catholics join hands to build new rural areas".
On the other hand, Catholics in Nghe An actively participate in social security activities. Particularly during the time when storm No. 3 affected the northern provinces, Catholics of Vinh Diocese donated more than 10.5 billion VND to support people in the northern provinces. Catholics also actively support and share with the government, especially in implementing key national and provincial projects.

On this occasion, informing about the main features of the province's socio-economic development in the year with many outstanding results, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung emphasized that the province achieved the above results thanks to the very important contribution of the province's Catholic compatriots.
Sharing the province's development orientation and goals in 2025, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung emphasized that this is a very important year, with many important events of the country. In 2025, Nghe An province celebrates the 995th anniversary of the name Nghe An.
The province will be determined to accelerate and make breakthroughs to achieve and complete the highest level of the goals and targets of the 2020-2025 term. The province will focus on attracting investment resources and developing key infrastructure projects to ensure conditions for the province's sustainable and long-term development. At the same time, the province will organize party congresses at all levels to determine development goals and tasks in the 2025-2030 period.
To achieve the above goal, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung hopes that Vinh Diocese and Catholics in the province will join hands and accompany Party committees and authorities at all levels, following the motto and spirit of the Catholic Church of Vietnam: "Respect God, love the country", "live a good life, follow the religion".
Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung also hopes that under the leadership of Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long and Auxiliary Bishop Peter Nguyen Van Vien, Vinh Diocese will continue to promote the positive and good results of 2024 and previous years, so that in 2025, it will accompany Party committees and authorities at all levels to implement development goals and this goal will ultimately bring a better life to people in the province, including Catholics.
Nghe An province will direct the Party committees and authorities at all levels to continue to closely coordinate with Vinh Diocese and parishes to resolve the problems and legitimate needs of Catholics. And in fact, in 2024, Nghe An province resolved many issues related to land issues, establishing 4 parishes for Vinh Diocese.

Affirming that the relationship between Party committees and authorities at all levels and Vinh Diocese is increasingly good, Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long expressed his gratitude for the attention and support of Party committees and authorities at all levels in the past time, thereby contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of Catholics in the province.
Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long affirmed that Vinh Diocese in particular and Catholics in general are always aware of the teachings of Pope Francis and Pope John Paul II, calling on us to be good citizens, good believers, to live the gospel in the hearts of the nation, to join hands and contribute to the common development of the country and the province, for the happiness of all people.
