Teachers and students in Nghe An commented that the high school graduation reference exam was difficult but interesting.
The Ministry of Education and Training has just announced 18 sample exam questions for the High School Graduation Exam under the new General Education Program. This will be the basis for schools to organize teaching and learning, preparing for the exam that will take place at the end of June 2025.
Commenting on the sample exam, many teachers and students said that the exam had many innovations and could classify students.
Teacher Le Khanh Hung - Math teacher, Vinh University High School for the Gifted: The exam meets the purpose of the exam.
Compared to previous years' exams, the new sample exam structure only retains 12 multiple-choice questions. The exam has 2 more types of multiple-choice questions, including 4 true-false questions and 6 short-answer questions, essentially filling in the answers for mathematical calculations.
In terms of level, the 12 multiple choice questions are all at the recognition and comprehension level. This section is similar to the recognition questions in the graduation exam in previous years.

In terms of content, 12 multiple choice questions test basic knowledge in the curriculum. True-false and short answer questions have many questions with content containing elements related to real-life, interdisciplinary models.
Notably, the new exam no longer has difficult questions that require thinking about complex functions or expressions, or math problems with special solutions.
Follow me,sample examhas met the purpose of organizing the exam, which is to evaluate the learning outcomes of learners according to the goals and requirements of the 2018 General Education Program in Mathematics (competencies; content lines; core knowledge; application in practice); use exam results to consider high school graduation.
At the same time, it also ensures the differentiation and classification of candidates to provide data for universities and vocational training institutions to use in admissions. To do this test, students need to have a firm grasp of basic knowledge, understand the nature of the problem; increase connections with other subjects, and connect with reality. Students also need to improve their reading comprehension, convert real-life models to mathematical models to use the theoretical mathematical knowledge they have learned.
Teacher Ngo Sy Thang - Physics teacher, Bac Yen Thanh High School: The exam contains a lot of practical information.
This year's reference exam is different from previous exams in that it covers a lot of 12th grade knowledge, about 85%. Meanwhile, in the old exam, 10th grade knowledge accounts for 10%, 11th grade knowledge accounts for about 20% and 12th grade knowledge accounts for 70%.
The exam has approached the assessment of students' abilities, containing a lot of information about practice, applying knowledge to practice. Personally, I think the exam is very good, suitable for the new program. However, compared to previous years, the exam is quite difficult. With this exam, getting a score of 6, 7 points is not too difficult. But getting to a score of 9 is very difficult (for the majority of students). The exam is more difficult in the Physics section, not as much focused on Mathematics as before.

With high differentiation, this test will be very good for university admission scores.
Right after the exam, we shared it with the students so they could read it and evaluate it themselves. Many students said that the exam was difficult and I was not surprised by this. Firstly, it was because they had not yet learned much of the knowledge in the exam. Moreover, when they first read it, they found the questions strange and found it difficult.
However, I believe that, once we have a sample exam structure, we will stick to the exam matrix, analyze the exam structure to teach according to each subject. With this exam, students must also change their learning methods. Instead of learning theory, they must know how to apply it in practice. Teachers must also change their teaching methods to be more practical.
Teacher Dang Thi Diu - Literature teacher, Nghi Loc 3 High School: Students must practice reading and understanding text skills
After receiving the Ministry's reference test, as a Literature teacher, I found this test to be relatively suitable and close to the new program. The test has a balance between reading comprehension and writing. With this test, students have been exposed to it since grades 10 and 11 in midterm exams, so they will not be unfamiliar with it. However, the difficulty for students is that the language used in the test will no longer be taken from textbooks. In this test, to do well, students must practice skills and abilities in accessing information, reading comprehension, making judgments, and appreciating the text.

With the new way of setting questions, I think the first batch of students taking the exam in 2025 will have certain difficulties, because they have only been exposed to the new General Education Program since grade 10. Teachers themselves have also identified the difficulties, so we have to accompany students from the time they enter high school and teach them to approach the new program, so that they can proactively access knowledge and develop their abilities.
Student Phan Minh Kiet - Vinh University High School for the Gifted: The exam was difficult to get 9 points for non-specialized students
In my opinion, the reference test is closely following the textbook program and has high differentiation. With this test, students are quite favorable because it covers the knowledge in the program. The current trend is that the test questions are quite related to practical life. Therefore, students must get used to the way of thinking and processing information within a certain time limit.

In the exams, I see that the Literature exam has changed a lot. Using external data requires students to think more, avoiding memorization. But the English exam is a bit long and students definitely have to practice more.
With this year's exam, I think the score range is from 3 to 8 points. But getting a score of 9 will be difficult. Like with the math exam, there are some math problems in the 11th grade textbook. Only students from specialized schools or those with good or excellent grades can access these exercises. It is difficult for ordinary students to do well./.
