Thousands of people return to Truong Bon on Reunification Day

During the resistance war against the US, Truong Bon was a key traffic point on the strategic route to support the southern battlefield, and was also the place where the US bombed and shelled fiercely. Here, 1,240 cadres, soldiers, youth volunteers, militia and people sacrificed their lives. Truong Bon Relic Site was recognized by the State as a national historical relic in 2008.

According to the relic management board, during this holiday, every day there are dozens of groups of visitors with thousands of people visiting Truong Bon, about 2-3 times more than usual.

The April flowers are golden on the common grave, people's hearts are filled with emotions as they respectfully burn incense for their fallen children at the "fire coordinates" of Truong Bon.

Many groups of former Youth Volunteers and veterans visiting Truong Bon were filled with emotion as if they were returning to the old battlefield, where they once devoted their youth to the country. There, many of their friends have remained in their twenties like Truong Bon martyrs. Mr. Cao Thanh Dong (74 years old), from Dien Lien commune, Dien Chau district (former Captain of Youth Volunteers Company 2893, General Team 289 Nghe An) said: “Every year on the victory day of April 30, our former youth volunteer company meets and organizes a visit to Truong Bon. Every time we come back here, we are moved. We would like to offer incense to our comrades who sacrificed their lives for the country”. On the morning of April 30, many groups of students from primary and secondary schools in the province visited the relic site. Many families lingered in front of the steles, reading each line carefully to gain a deeper understanding of the Truong Bon “fire coordinates”.

The time-stained artifacts in the traditional house remind people of the fierce yet heroic years of living and fighting of our army and people in Truong Bon.

The Truong Bon National Historical Site Victory Monument rises up into the blue sky, further affirming the indomitable and brave tradition of our people in the struggle to protect the Fatherland. This place will forever be a red address, educating the tradition of patriotism for future generations.
