(Baonghean.vn) - Abandoned by their father while still in their mother's womb, and at 7 months old, their mother also passed away. Twins Phuong Anh and Quynh Anh (Hamlet 9, Nghi Phu, Vinh City) depended on their sick, single grandmother. Overcoming all difficulties, in this year's National High School Exam, both sisters passed the entrance exam to Vinh Medical University with high scores (24.25 points).

While their peers were eagerly preparing to enter school, the two sisters Quynh Anh and Phuong Anh were burdened with worries as they held the admission notice in their hands and did not know where to find the money to contribute up to tens of millions of dong.

The situation of these twins is very difficult. When their mother was 5 months pregnant with them, her father abandoned her, so she had to divorce and take her clothes and go back to her mother. After 7 months of giving birth, due to pressure and poverty, she left her 2 young children to be taken care of by her old mother, and for 18 years there was no news. The two sisters grew up depending on their grandmother's fruit basket, fish sauce, and pickled eggplant.

Lacking the warmth of their mother and the guidance of their father, they were in return loved and cared for by their grandmother. To repay her kindness and please her, for 12 consecutive years, the two sisters always tried their best to achieve high scores in their studies, achieving the title of excellent students at school, city and provincial levels.

After school hours, the two sisters also help their grandmother peel sugarcane to sell at the market; they teach martial arts to reduce some of her financial burden. In the bright corner of the makeshift house built on land borrowed from the locality are certificates of merit, certificates, bronze medals, and gold medals of various kinds of the two sisters.

In the recent university entrance exam, Nguyen Phuong Anh passed the entrance exam to the Hanoi Academy of Journalism and Propaganda (block C) while Nguyen Quynh Anh was admitted to the General Practitioner program at Vinh Medical University.

After much thought and consideration, Phuong Anh decided to give up her dream of becoming a journalism student, and Quynh Anh also had to give up studying to become a general practitioner.

Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh said: “Studying in Hanoi, having to rent a room, spending a lot of money, 4 years out there, where is the money to study, sister? I am old, my health is poor, I cannot work hard to earn money to take care of my two sisters anymore. To reduce the burden, I applied for admission to the nursing program at Vinh Medical University and was accepted with a score of 24.25.

As for Quynh Anh, if she studies to become a General Practitioner, it will take 6-7 years, and the tuition is high, so she also registered to study nursing. For now, the two sisters will study at Vinh Medical University, and later, when they work and have the financial means, they will study to become doctors.

The school year was approaching, but the grandmother of the two children could not find the money to pay for the paperwork, so Quynh Anh had to "boldly" write a letter explaining her situation and asking for support from Vinh City Youth Union. Thanks to the generosity of benefactors, nearly 7 million VND was given to the twins in difficult circumstances in time for them to enroll in school.

“We are very happy to have the tuition fee. But in the long run, we want to find a part-time job, any job, to have money to pay for 4 years of study. My grandmother is old, weak and sick, so we don’t want to be a burden to her. If I had one wish, I would wish for her to be healthy, for us to study well to repay her. And…”, Quynh Anh stopped speaking in a sob.

“And… the two sisters wanted to see their mother once. For 18 years, I have longed to call her “Mom!”. We do not blame her, because at that time, she was so desperate and desperate that she left”…
