Scientific seminar 'King of the Sea, King Hoang Ta Thon (1254 - 1339)'
On the morning of July 13, in Vinh city, the Institute of History, the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An and the Hoang/Huynh family of Nghe An coordinated to organize the scientific workshop "Sat Hai Dai Vuong Hoang Ta Thon (1254 - 1339)".
The workshop was chaired by: Comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee; Comrade Tran Thi My Hanh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Director of Nghe An Department of Culture and Sports; Dr. Le Quang Chan - Deputy Director of the Institute of History; Associate Professor - Dr. Nguyen Duc Nhue - Chairman of the Scientific Council, Institute of History; Mr. Hoang Viet Duong - Chairman of the Hoang/Huynh Family Council of Nghe An province.
Attending the workshop were representatives of the Navy Command; leaders of the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An; the Hoang - Huynh Family Council of Vietnam and researchers from central and local agencies.

In his opening speech at the Workshop, Dr. Le Quang Chan - Deputy Director of the Institute of History stated: On the occasion of the 770th anniversary of the birth of Sat Hai Dai Vuong Hoang Ta Thon (1254 - 2024), with the aim of clarifying the life, career as well as evaluating the role and contributions of Sat Hai Dai Vuong Hoang Ta Thon to the history of the nation in the late 13th and early 14th centuries; thereby, proposing orientations and solutions to preserve, embellish and promote the value of relics associated with him, contributing to propaganda and education about the tradition of fighting foreign invaders and protecting the country's sea and islands in the new context; Nghe An Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with the Institute of History and the Hoang - Huynh Family Council of Nghe An organized the Scientific Workshop on Sat Hai Dai Vuong Hoang Ta Thon (1254 - 1339).

The problem is that today we need to preserve, transmit and promote historical and cultural values (including tangible and intangible heritage and documents) associated with King Sat Hai Hoang Ta Thon.
At the workshop, researchers gave recommendations and effective solutions for all levels, sectors and generations of descendants of the Hoang - Huynh family to refer to, from which to have effective conservation and promotion plans, achieving the highest efficiency...

The workshop gathered 29 presentations and opinions exchanged by scientists at the Central level, managers, researchers in localities such as Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Thanh Hoa and representatives of some Hoang family branches in Nghe An, Vinh Phuc...
The content of the presentations focused on three main topics: The homeland and background of Sat Hai Dai Vuong Hoang Ta Thon; the career of Sat Hai Dai Vuong Hoang Ta Thon; Sat Hai Dai Vuong in the people's consciousness and the preservation and promotion of cultural values.

In his concluding remarks at the workshop, comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee requested the Institute of History, the Institute of Han Nom Studies, the Navy Command, the Hoang/Huynh family of Vietnam and relevant agencies to create favorable conditions for Nghe An province to propose the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to rank the original relic of Sat Hai Dai Vuong Hoang Ta Thon in his hometown of Van Phan as a national relic; to add information related to Sat Hai Dai Vuong to official history, contributing to embellishing the history of the nation's resistance against invaders to defend the country.

At the same time, the Department of Culture and Sports, the People's Committee of Dien Chau district and the Hoang - Huynh Nghe An clan council advised on the restoration and embellishment of the Tomb and Temple of Sat Hai Dai Vuong Hoang Ta Thon in Dien Van commune, Dien Chau district; advised on plans to expand the campus and promote the value of the relic. Researched and proposed to name streets or cultural and educational works in the area, especially coastal localities, after Sat Hai Dai Vuong Hoang Ta Thon...
King Sat Hai Hoang Ta Thon was from Van Phan commune, now
Dien Van commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province, born on June 16, Giap Dan year 1254, died on March 15, Ky Mao year (1339). He had great contributions in the resistance war against the Yuan Mongol army for the second time (1285) and the third time (1287 - 1288), especially the battle on Bach Dang river in March, Mau Ty year 1288. Under the talented command of Hung Dao Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan, Sat Hai Dai Vuong and our army and people defeated the very powerful navy of the Yuan Mongol army and captured O Ma Nhi and many enemy generals.
He was given the title of Sat Hai Chang Lai Dai Tuong Quan by the Tran Dynasty at that time, with the title Minh Tu, and was made the main general commanding the seaports in the coastal areas. After his death, Sat Hai Dai Vuong was worshipped by people in many places. According to incomplete statistics, there are nearly 70 temples worshipping him in the three provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh.
