(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 22, the People's Committee of Hung Nguyen district held the opening ceremony of the Ong Hoang Muoi Temple Festival in 2023. This is a traditional cultural and religious activity held annually in the middle of the 10th lunar month.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Tran Thi My Hanh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; representatives of a number of provincial departments, branches and sectors and leaders of Hung Nguyen district.

Hung Nguyen district is a land with a rich history, culture and revolution. In the district, there are 126 inventoried relics; of which 12 relics have been ranked at the national level and 25 relics have been ranked at the provincial level.

Ong Hoang Muoi Temple was built during the Later Le Dynasty (17th century) in Xuan Am Village, Hung Thinh Commune. Despite the ups and downs of time and many restorations and embellishments, the temple still retains the unique architectural art of the Nguyen Dynasty, reflecting the creative thinking and talent of Nghe An artisans at that time.

The temple also preserves many rare documents and artifacts; including 21 royal decrees, Chinese scripts, and statues of historical and aesthetic value. The temple was ranked as a historical and cultural relic by the People's Committee of Nghe An province in 2002; and recognized as a cultural and spiritual tourist destination in 2018.

In 2019, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognized Ong Hoang Muoi Temple Festival as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage (in Decision No. 2970/QD-BVHTTDL dated August 27, 2019).

The Ong Hoang Muoi Temple Festival in 2023 will be held on November 21 and 22 (October 9 and 10, Quy Mao year) with many unique traditional cultural activities.

On November 21, the festival opened with the festival part, including the procession and sports competitions: boat racing, men's and women's volleyball with 16 teams, attracting more than 200 athletes to participate and folk dance performances by hundreds of women from hamlets in Hung Thinh commune.

At the festival, booths are arranged to display typical products, craft village products, OCOP products of Hung Nguyen district, meeting the needs of shopping and enjoying local products.

The ceremony at Ong Hoang Muoi Temple Festival was officially opened this morning with many solemn rituals, such as incense offering and offering ceremony; royal decree ceremony; and god worship ceremony. After the ceremony, delegates and visitors experienced the men's and women's volleyball finals and the final award ceremony.

Organizing the Ong Hoang Muoi Temple Festival aims to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values ​​of the nation, and to commemorate the merits of the gods of fortune. This is also an opportunity to educate the people, especially the young generation, about traditions and commemorate the merits of the predecessors who have contributed to the country, thereby creating a sense of responsibility to build and protect the Fatherland today.

At the same time, through the activities at the festival, creating a healthy spiritual and cultural living environment and a vibrant space for cultural and sports activities and exchanges; contributing to building a culture imbued with national identity, promoting local tourism development - one of the key economic spearheads identified by the district.

Within the framework of this year's festival, the Organizing Committee presented gifts to poor households and households in difficult circumstances in Hung Thinh commune, with funds mobilized from benefactors, including support for building 10 houses, support for means of transport including 10 motorbikes and 100 bicycles for students to go to school.
