Opening of Vinh Orange Week and Nghe An products and specialties in Hanoi

On the evening of December 17, the People's Committee of Nghe An province coordinated to organize the opening ceremony of "Vinh orange and Nghe An products and specialties week in Hanoi 2019". Attending the opening ceremony were comrades: Phan Dinh Trac - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission; Chu Ngoc Anh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Science and Technology; Nguyen The Trung - former Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission; Truong Dinh Tuyen - former Member of the Party Central Committee, former Minister of Trade.

Delegates of Nghe An province include comrades: Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Hoang Nghia Hieu - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

This is the first time the event has taken place in Hanoi, attracting the participation of 90 booths from enterprises, cooperatives, organizations, associations, farms, production and business households. Of which, 42 booths display specialty products, OCOP products of craft villages; 40 booths introduce products with geographical indications of Vinh oranges.

In addition, there are also booths displaying and introducing traceability services and products; introducing innovative start-up products and activities to promote investment, tourism, trade and science and technology products of Nghe An province.

Along with the Opening Ceremony taking place at Big C Thang Long supermarket, on this occasion, the most famous specialty product of Nghe An province, Vinh orange, will be introduced in the system of 37 Big C and GO! supermarkets in 22 provinces and cities nationwide.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Thai Thanh Quy said,Nghe An is the largest province in the country with rich natural resources, high biodiversity, diverse climate, rivers, and soil, which has produced many special plants and animals, and many traditional products that have existed and developed for a long time.

Many products have become famous brands far and wide, the first of which is the Vinh orange specialty - juicy, sweet oranges with a unique flavor that anyone who has ever tasted them can feel. Currently, the orange growing area in Nghe An province is over 5,000 hectares, of which more than 2,500 hectares of commercial oranges are being harvested.

After being granted geographical indication in 2017, Vinh oranges were identified as one of the province's key crops with the goal of not only developing into a commodity product with high economic efficiency but also preserving and promoting its value as a cultural product of the province.

Nghe An pays special attention to trade promotion, bringing quality products of the province to domestic markets, of which Hanoi is one of the large and promising markets for products and specialties of Nghe An, especially Vinh oranges.

Vinh Orange Week and Nghe An Products and Specialties in Hanoi 2019 is an opportunity for Nghe An agricultural production enterprises to meet and exchange with enterprises in Hanoi and neighboring provinces to introduce and promote safe, quality agricultural products and local specialties; creating conditions for units and gardeners in Nghe An province to link up to consume quality, safe agricultural and aquatic products with supermarket systems, trade centers, and enterprises purchasing, processing and exporting agricultural and aquatic products domestically and internationally.

Visiting the booths at the “Vinh Orange Week” in Hanoi, comrade Phan Dinh Trac - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee said that Nghe An needs to organize orange production more systematically. Production must be closely linked with the market to gain the trust of consumers nationwide.

Also on this occasion, important activities took place such as: Ceremony to receive the certificate of protection for the expansion of the geographical indication of Vinh orange; Certificate of protection for the geographical indication of Ky Son ginger; Ceremony to sign a product consumption contract between Big C and Nghe An enterprises and a training program to guide the cooperation process of connecting agricultural product consumption to the retail system of Big C and Go! for nearly 200 representatives of farmers and cooperatives of Nghe An province.
