Prosecution of the subject of abuse of power and position to appropriate property

Previously, in October 2022, through the investigation of suspected cases of officials at the Office of Land Registration and Management of Quy Hop district showing signs of "Abusing position and power to appropriate property", the district police reported to the leaders of Nghe An Provincial Police to establish a special project to fight.

After a period of investigation, on January 4, 2023, the Investigation Police Agency of Quy Hop District Police prosecuted and issued an order to temporarily detain Nguyen Quang Truong (born in 1994), residing in Dong Song hamlet, Dong Hop commune, Quy Hop district, for 4 months for the crime of "Abusing position and power to appropriate property", according to Article 355 of the Penal Code.

During an emergency search of Nguyen Quang Truong's residence, the police seized 02 mobile phones, 02 laptops, 03 bank cards under the name of Nguyen Quang Truong and many documents related to the issuance of land use right certificates. The above decisions were approved by the People's Procuracy at the same level.

Nguyen Quang Truong was a contract worker at the Office of Land Registration and Management of Quy Hop District. From March 2021 to October 2022, taking advantage of his job, Nguyen Quang Truong received documents and money from about 30 people in Dong Hop Commune, Quy Hop District, with the promise to prepare documents to issue Land Use Rights Certificates for them.

However, Truong used the money the victims transferred to him for personal expenses. The amount of money that Nguyen Quang Truong appropriated from people was nearly 1 billion VND.

Currently, the case is continuing to be investigated and expanded./.
