Checking the operation of drainage pumping stations in Vinh City before storm No. 8

Due to the unpredictable developments of storm No. 8, Vinh city is forecast to be affected and have heavy rain. Therefore, to proactively prevent flooding, leaders of Vinh city People's Committee and related departments and units directly inspected the operation of pumping stations in Doi Cung, Trung Do, Ben Thuy wards and drainage culverts at Goong lake.

At pumping stations for drainage and sewers, CChairman of Vinh City People's Committee- Tran Ngoc Tu requested the management unit to run the machine sets and open and close the water barriers to check the operation of the pumping stations and the machinery and equipment system. At the same time, he requested the management unit of the pumping stations to arrange 24/7 staff to promptly operate the drainage pumps when Vinh city has heavy rain.

In particular, to prevent power outages when heavy rain and storms hit, the Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee has directed the management unit of the pumping stations to immediately implement a plan to contract large-capacity generators to have backup power. Through on-site inspection, the Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee also requested the Urban Management Department and related departments to urgently develop a plan to dredge and expand the water tanks of the pumping stations to promptly drain water, minimizing localized flooding when heavy rain occurs.
