Alcohol Concentration Violation Check in Vinh City: Fines of over 100 million VND in 1 Night

Implementing Plan 32/KH-CAT-PC08-PV01 dated February 3, 2023 of Nghe An Provincial Police on patrolling, controlling, and handling violations under the topic "Drivers on the road with drugs in their bodies, violating speed and alcohol concentration", Vinh City Police has developed a plan and organized forces to patrol, control,handling violationson many routes in the city.

From January 26, 2023 (January 5 of the lunar calendar) to now, Vinh City Police have detected and handled 36 cases of alcohol concentration violations, imposing fines of VND 275.5 million. On the night of February 11 alone, 3 working groups of Vinh City Police were deployed on Le Nin, Nguyen Sy Sach and Phan Dang Luu streets. During the inspection of more than 150 cases, 07 cases of car drivers violating alcohol concentration and 01 case of driving a motorbike with drugs in the body were discovered.

The total fine was more than 100 million VND, 8 vehicles were temporarily detained; in which the highest measured alcohol concentration was 0.450 milligrams/liter of breath, corresponding to a fine of 35 million VND and a 23-month driver's license revocation; in the case of drugs being detected in the body, the police fined 7 million VND, temporarily detained the vehicle and revoked the driver's license for 23 months.

Violations of alcohol concentration are assessed by the Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security as the direct cause of the following behaviors: driving on the wrong side of the road, lane, speeding, not keeping a safe distance... causing a series of traffic accidents, threatening people's lives.

Currently, the fines for violations of alcohol concentration are very high, directly affecting the personal economy. In addition, propaganda and warning activities have been regularly organized by the authorities, combined with increased patrols, controls and handling. However, to further reduce accidents and unfortunate incidents, the most important thing is still the awareness and compliance of people when participating in traffic.
