On the morning of March 23, comrade Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee led a working delegation of Nghe An province to visit and encourage the family of Senior Lieutenant Sam Quoc Nghia (Chau Thang commune, Quy Chau).

On behalf of the Provincial People's Committee, Comrade Le Hong Vinh shared the loss and grief with the relatives of Senior Lieutenant Nghia in particular and the Nghe An Police force in general. The working group presented gifts to help the family overcome difficulties. Comrade Le Hong Vinh also directed relevant departments to promptly complete the documents and procedures so that Comrade Nghia's family can enjoy the regime and policies in accordance with the State's regulations.

A day before, the leaders of Nghe An Police led by Major General Nguyen Huu Cau - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Provincial Police also attended the funeral to share with the family.
In addition, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also called and sent condolences to the Director and the entire Provincial Police force.

As reported by Nghe An newspaper, on the morning of March 22, Que Phong District Police received information from the public that a Laotian was organizing illegal drug transportation from across the border into the mountainous forest area of Nam Giai Commune, Que Phong District. District police leaders quickly sent a working group to verify the source of information and make a plan to arrest him.
When the task force reached the area, Senior Lieutenant Sam Quoc Nghia volunteered to go first to move closer to the suspected area, to approach and identify the subject. While controlling the suspect, another subject suddenly jumped out from the bushes behind and used a knife to attack Senior Lieutenant Nghia to rescue his accomplice.
Despite being seriously injured, Lieutenant Nghia continued to chase and signal his teammates to control and arrest the suspect. After being taken to the District Medical Center for emergency treatment, Lieutenant Nghia did not survive due to severe injuries and blood loss.
