Hail and thunderstorms in mountainous districts of Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of March 28, hail and strong winds swept through several communes in Tuong Duong district (Nghe An), damaging people's houses and crops.
Ms. Loc Thi Van - Deputy Secretary of Xieng My Commune Party Committee said: At about 5:00 p.m. on March 28, hail and strong winds appeared in the commune, lasting about 30 minutes.
The stones were quite large with a diameter of about 1-2 cm. The houses of some households in Chon village, Nong Mo, with cement roofs were punctured and damaged by hail. The commune is currently calculating the damage.
It is known that hailstorms accompanied by strong winds have swept through several communes of Mai Son, Yen Thang, Yen Hoa, Nga My… in Tuong Duong district. In addition, this afternoon hailstorms appeared in several communes of Ky Son and Quy Chau districts.
In the mountainous districts of Nghe An, thunderstorms and hail often occur during this season. The authorities of Tuong Duong district warn people to take precautions against unusual weather, which can cause damage to life, property and crops in the area./.
